Raw fish and icy hoetbul mulhoe at a Songpa, Seoul sashimi bar
In short
Ojingeo Seonsuchon Jamsil is a raw fish and seafood pub near the end of the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. The writer ordered a small flounder-and-rockfish sashimi platter for ₩50,000 and a live-fish hoetbul mulhoe (icy raw fish cold soup) for ₩45,000, finding the sashimi thick and chewy and the mulhoe served rock-frozen, staying slushy-cold to the last spoonful. Open until 2:30am daily, it's a solid pick for a late-night sashimi-and-soju round.

Meat for round one, sashimi for round two
We'd already eaten a ton of meat for round one, and said "let's keep round two light~" haha. And what's the easiest round two? Sashimi, obviously! 😆🍶 This time we went to Ojingeo Seonsuchon Jamsil.
It's roughly in the middle of the Bangi-dong food alley, but tucked toward one end, so it didn't have that overwhelming food-alley noise and chaos — I liked that.

It's great for a light round-two drink like we did, but it'd also work perfectly well as your first stop for sashimi and drinks from the start 🐟

See those hours? Open until 2:30am every single day! 😂 What even are these business hours haha. Great option if you want to keep the drinks going late.
The entrance fish tank catches your eye first
Right at the entrance there's a fish tank — and it's not just any fish tank. Apparently Ojingeo Seonsuchon custom-built it with sterilization and water purification features.
They keep the water clean and manage the seafood quality environment through a sterilization system, or so we heard. Eating the sashimi that day, we were like "is that why it's so good?" haha, it really was delicious 🐟✨
The vibe and tablet ordering
The inside is kept clean and has just the right feel for a sashimi-and-drinks pub. Every table has a tablet, so ordering was really easy!

There's also a big menu posted on the wall, so picking what to order wasn't hard at all 😊

When we visited, a lot of tables were clearly on round two like us, but plenty of others were there from the start, eating a full meal all the way through to spicy fish stew.

So if you're looking for a good pub in Bangi-dong, I'd say it works whether it's your first or second stop of the night.
Generous banchan from the start
The basics arrive first: sundubu (soft tofu), then salad, vinegared seaweed with red pepper paste, makjang (spicy dipping sauce), quail eggs, cherry tomatoes, seasoned kkosiraegi (brown seaweed), cheongyang chili peppers, garlic, and corn salad!

There were way more banchan types than I expected, which made it fun to pick at bit by bit haha 😋 Especially nice that they had makjang and the seaweed salad, both great with sashimi.

When food comes out this generously, it just puts you in a good mood haha.
Flounder & rockfish sashimi platter (small), ₩50,000
Since we'd already eaten meat during round one, we didn't push it with a set menu — just ordered the small flounder-and-rockfish sashimi platter for ₩50,000.

And honestly... it was ridiculously good ㅠㅠㅠ 🤤 The flounder and rockfish were firm and chewy, with real bounce to the flesh — the texture was excellent.

Sliced thick, so there was real bite to it too! Great wrapped in lettuce, great dipped straight into the makjang, and great eaten with the seaweed salad.
Even after all that meat in round one, the sashimi just kept going down haha. I guess sashimi really does have its own separate stomach when there's soju involved? 😂🍶 A shot of soju with a piece of sashimi was a perfect match.
Live-fish hoetbul mulhoe (icy raw fish soup), ₩45,000, arrives frozen solid
It was hot out, so we really wanted something cold and ordered the live-fish hoetbul mulhoe for ₩45,000.
When it arrived... it came out completely frozen solid! 😂🧊
We scraped at the ice to melt it a bit, and after a while it turned into that perfect slushy state with ice crystals floating on top. One bite and — wow, this place is genuinely great for mulhoe ㅠㅠ
Sweet and tangy, refreshing, and thanks to the slush it stayed cold all the way to the bottom — the perfect drinking snack for a hot day!
Both the sashimi and the mulhoe were so good that next time I want to come with more room in my stomach and properly work through the menu.
Next time: squid and grilled shrimp
With a name like Ojingeo Seonsuchon ("Squid Training Camp"), I first assumed it'd mostly be squid dishes, but they actually have a wide range of sashimi too, which made it even better.
We had flounder and rockfish this time, so next time I definitely want to try their grilled shrimp or squid dishes too 🦑🦐 Great spot to visit whenever you're craving thick, firm sashimi.
A good spot in Jamsil for sashimi and a drink
We came for round two this time, and Ojingeo Seonsuchon Jamsil turned out way better than expected — the sashimi was seriously good!

Being open late is a big plus, and Naver Reservation makes it easy to book ahead too. Most of all, the flounder and rockfish we had that day were firm, chewy, and properly fresh-tasting — everyone agreed it was delicious, and we ate happily 🥰

If you're looking for a spot near Jamsil Station and want sashimi with soju instead of meat, or want fresh sashimi and mulhoe in the Bangi-dong food alley, I recommend Ojingeo Seonsuchon Jamsil 🍻🐟

Next time I plan to go with an empty stomach and properly work through the squid, grilled shrimp, and the side menu too haha. Already curious how good that'll be 😆
