Songpa Korean BBQ with scored pork belly and mango pork neck
In short
Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station and Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul, with a spacious dining hall that feels more like a proper meat restaurant than a pojangmacha. Grilled over charcoal were 200g of lamb ribs, silk mango raw pork neck, and scored pork belly (kkaljip kkeopdegi), with the deeply scored belly standing out for its soft, chewy texture. Dangsan Odol keeps its meat well managed, has plenty of charcoal on hand, and even carries kkodeulsal (cartilage meat), an unusual item you won't find at most BBQ places. This particular branch leans less pojangmacha and more like a proper restaurant built around eating meat.

Getting there from Bangi Station and Olympic Park, and parking
Parking space is quite generous, so there's no need to worry about that. It's also easy to reach from the Olympic Park side.

I dropped by Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch looking for a hearty lunch of meat. When people hear Dangsan Odol, they usually think of kkodeulsal first, but the Bangi branch is a bit different — alongside pork, you can enjoy a range of charcoal-grilled items like lamb ribs or snowflake ribs. Sure enough, the menu includes lamb ribs, silk mango raw pork neck, scored pork belly, and kkodeulsal, and for a finishing dish you can choose perilla oil cold noodles, mussel soybean paste stew, or mulberry leaf sujebi.

The side with the large parking lot in the back is the main entrance, though I came in from the opposite side.

Group tables and a big room — good for a work dinner?
The Bangi branch felt more like a proper meat restaurant than the typical pojangmacha vibe of Dangsan Odol. The hall is quite spacious, with group seating and a large private room, so it looked like a good fit for family outings or work dinners with several people. Whether it's a drinking session, a company dinner, or a family meal, it seemed like an easy, comfortable place to visit.

There's a self-serve side dish station, and if you leave a receipt review, they give you a highball.

What we ordered, the side dishes, and the melljeot
This time we ordered lamb ribs, silk mango raw pork neck, and scored pork belly.

The basic side dishes were pickled perilla leaves, spicy radish salad, pickled onions, and radish wraps (ssammu), along with wasabi and ssamjang. The pickled onions had a nice crunch, and the radish wrap tasted homemade. The melljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) has chili and whole garlic in it, giving it a bit of a kick — warmed slightly at the edge of the grill and used as a dip, it goes really well with the meat. There's also a separate yangkkochi (lamb skewer) sauce for the lamb ribs, and soybean powder is set out to go with the pork belly.

The charcoal is the real star — a clean smoky flavor
The meat overall was in good condition and solid. But honestly, the charcoal that came out was so good it was almost overwhelming.

Whoa, look at that glow — anything grilled on this is going to taste amazing, seriously.
Lamb ribs (Australian shoulder rack, 200g)
They recommended starting with the lamb ribs, then moving to the pork neck, then the pork belly. The lamb ribs are Australian shoulder rack served as a 200g order, and we actually got two pieces. The charcoal was so good that the meat picked up a clean smoky flavor as soon as it hit the grill.

The lamb ribs had just the right amount of fat and were tender. The distinctive lamb smell wasn't overpowering, and the fat's savoriness along with the meaty flavor came through just enough — easy to eat without any hesitation.

Silk mango raw pork neck
The silk mango raw pork neck. A big chunk of pork neck scored densely in a mango-like pattern — fun just to look at. It's cute that it's propped up on king oyster mushrooms underneath. The mango-shaped scoring lets the thick cut cook through evenly.
Once grilled, it wasn't just the clean, lean flavor typical of pork neck — the rich, fatty character of the pork came through fully as well. And because of the scoring, it ends up grilling longer while staying thick, which made it wonderfully tender to chew.
Scored pork belly — the star of the day
What stood out the most that day was the scored pork belly. It comes out as about three hefty pieces, with real thickness to them. The scoring goes not just on the surface but deep inside, so the seasoning soaks in thoroughly.

Wow, this is genuinely delicious. Unlike the crisp, crackery texture you'd normally expect from pork belly, it stays soft while keeping a chewy bite. The belly itself is seasoned through with a soy-based flavor, so it's tasty even with just a light dip in the soybean powder.

It surprisingly goes well with wasabi too. Since there's already a soy-based savoriness, the sharpness of the wasabi cuts through the richness nicely.

A note on grilling
One thing to watch — both the belly and the pork neck render a lot of fat, so the flames can flare up suddenly. Given how charcoal grilling works, it's better to flip the meat regularly rather than leaving it sitting.

In short
Overall, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch felt less like a place you go just for kkodeulsal and more like a solid BBQ restaurant for enjoying a variety of pork and lamb over charcoal. Being able to try several cuts at once is nice, but the charcoal really is the highlight. If you're in Bangi-dong looking for a spacious BBQ restaurant for a work dinner or family gathering with several people, this looks like a solid choice.
I'd had kkodeulsal before so I skipped it this time, but honestly, kkodeulsal and the scored pork belly — those two are must-orders.
