Suyeong fish restaurant with river views: Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Gwangalli Waterside Park Branch is a grilled-fish restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, with views of the Suyeong River and Marine City. My mom and I had the Yeonggwang gulbi set and spicy marinated blue crab set for 21,000 and 19,000 won. Verdict: a lovely, unhurried spot for a meal with Mom and a view.

Today’s story is about going out with just my mom, without the Chaechae siblings, haha. I was looking for somewhere to have a meal with Mom after a long time and found a newly opened grilled-fish place in Millak-dong, so I had to check it out.
It’s called Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Gwangalli Waterside Park Branch (화덕으로간고등어 광안리수변공원점), and just as its name suggests, they grill fish straight in a 500°C oven. The moment we sat down and saw the view outside, we both said, “What is this place?” haha. I’ll show you more in a moment!

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Gwangalli Waterside Park Branch atmosphere
It’s on the second floor at 147 Millaksubyeon-ro, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea. Group visits, high chairs, separate restrooms for men and women, takeout and delivery, reservations, and wheelchair-accessible seating were listed.

The Suyeong River and Marine City views stretch right out in front of you! At a window seat, you get a wonderfully open view through the floor-to-ceiling windows toward Marine City and the river. It isn’t directly in front of Gwangalli, but I was totally happy with a view like this.
There’s a separate self-serve bar, and the dessert corner had self-serve barley tea, maesil tea, and peach iced tea, which was convenient.
A big sign on the wall says they grill everything in a 500°C oven, and it definitely got me quietly excited.

Ordering Yeonggwang gulbi and spicy marinated blue crab

Mom and I chose the oven-baked Yeonggwang gulbi set and the West Coast spicy marinated blue crab set.
The Yeonggwang gulbi came out nicely golden. It was crisp on the outside and moist inside, with just the right amount of saltiness. With a tiny bit of wasabi on top, there was absolutely no fishiness—it tasted so clean.
The spicy marinated blue crab had a sweet-and-spicy sauce completely soaked into the crab meat, making it perfect to mix with rice. Mom loves crab, and she really enjoyed it, haha.
A relaxing meal with Mom

This place even has a perfect self-serve bar, haha. It was already nice just sitting down to eat with Mom after so long, but the view was pretty too, so we took loads of photos.
Mom kept saying, “It’s quiet and nice here.” Without the kids, we could take our time, talk a lot, and it honestly felt so healing. The self-serve side dishes came in lots of varieties too, so it was fun choosing what to eat.
A relaxed oven-baked grilled-fish meal with Mom while looking out at Marine City and the Suyeong River. There’s a separate kids’ menu too, so next time I definitely want to come back with the Chaechae siblings.
