Haeundae Chinese restaurant black vinegar tangsuyuk dinner: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, with sea views over Marine City. We shared jajangmyeon with poached egg and pork belly, seafood jjamppong, and black vinegar pork tangsuyuk. Verdict: A relaxed choice for a Chinese dinner with an ocean view.

I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch while looking for somewhere to have dinner in Haeundae Marine City. I was craving Chinese food, and I wanted to eat slowly somewhere with a nice atmosphere and a view of the sea. We ordered exactly three things that day: jajangmyeon with poached egg and pork belly, seafood jjamppong, and black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork).

An easy-to-find location in Marine City

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is along Marine City 3-ro; just head up to the second floor of the building. It is in the same building as Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap, so it was not difficult to confirm the location even on a first visit.

If you visit by car, you can use The Shop Adelise commercial parking lot, which is quite convenient. Parking support conditions may change, so I think it is best to check with the restaurant before finishing your meal.

Even on the way up to the second floor, it felt a little different from an ordinary neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The entrance was neatly done up too, so the atmosphere felt pretty nice from the moment we walked in for dinner.

An interior with an impressive ocean view

Once inside, the spacious dining room immediately catches your eye. The overall mood uses dark tones with accent lighting, so it feels calm yet polished.

It keeps the character of a Chinese restaurant without feeling too old-fashioned. There are several table arrangements, so it looked good not only for dates but also for family meals or gatherings.

Interior with several styles of tables

Above all, as you would expect from a good Marine City restaurant, the view from the window-side seats really drew my attention. The sea stretches out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, making the meal feel different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant.

I am sure it would be lovely while the sun is out, but in the evening the lighting and scenery outside would create another kind of mood. It is a Haeundae dining spot that suits days when you want both a meal and a nice atmosphere near Dongbaekseom Island.

The three dishes we ordered

That day, we ordered jajang, seafood jjamppong, and black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk. We chose one jajang and one jjamppong, then added a shared dish—the combination I always like when having Chinese food.

Order of jajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk

The side dishes were set out first while we waited for our order. With jajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk, the table started to look wonderfully full as the dishes arrived one by one.

The jajangmyeon that arrived first immediately stood out visually.

The rich black bean sauce seemed to coat the noodles in an especially smooth way.

When you lift up the noodles, they are generously coated in sauce, with pieces of meat caught up here and there. I liked that the meat had a real chew to it, rather than being tiny pieces hidden away as in a typical jajangmyeon.

It was a dish where the deep flavor characteristic of jajang blended nicely with a nutty, smooth feel. If you usually like jajang, it is familiar but has a little extra point of difference, so it was a good one to try.

Seafood jjamppong that is great for a refreshing meal

Next was the seafood jjamppong I ordered. According to the current menu description, it includes a variety of seafood such as mussels, octopus, clams, and shrimp.

The seafood was easy to spot from the moment it was placed on the table, and it looked generously filled with broth too. Taking a sip of jjamppong broth after a few bites of jajang made the two dishes go very well together.

Rather than the heavy style of a meat jjamppong, this was a refreshing dish that brought out the flavors of the seafood. The spicy broth and noodles were good together, and picking out seafood along the way was fun too, making it a great order alongside jajang.

Tangsuyuk with black vinegar as the key flavor

And the dish we chose that day was the black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk. Bueokgan introduces it as a signature tangsuyuk that uses Chinese black vinegar for a deep, rich flavor.

The sauce was a little darker in color than typical light-colored tangsuyuk sauce, so it caught my eye as soon as the food arrived. The sauce comes together with the fried pork loin, and its distinctive tangy black vinegar flavor makes it feel different from the tangsuyuk I usually eat. With one piece, the chewy pork loin comes through first, followed by the flavor of the black vinegar sauce. Rather than leaving only a strong sweetness, the tanginess balances it out, so it did not feel overwhelming to keep eating.

A bite of jajang, a spoonful of seafood jjamppong broth, then tangsuyuk here and there—the three-dish combination worked quite well. Each dish had a clearly different character, so if you are visiting with two or more people, this is a good set of orders to share.

A Marine City Chinese dinner with all three dishes

If you are craving Chinese food in Marine City, the three dishes I had at Bueokgan Chinese each had their own character: smooth jajang, jjamppong that paired seafood with spicy broth, and tangsuyuk with a distinct black vinegar flavor.

Beyond the food, the spacious interior and the sea view outside the windows made it a nice place for an unhurried meal. If you are looking for a date spot in Marine City, somewhere for a family meal near Dongbaekseom Island, or a Haeundae restaurant with a good atmosphere, it is worth stopping by.

A Chinese meal enjoyed with a sea view

You can of course simply have jajangmyeon and jjamppong, but adding dishes such as tangsuyuk lets you enjoy a more complete Chinese meal. I was happy with the jajang, seafood jjamppong, and black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk combination at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch because none of the dishes overlapped.
