Haeundae Korean BBQ for group dinners: Seokok Galbi

In short

Seokok Galbi is a charcoal-grilled pork rib restaurant in Haeundae, Busan. I tried its 2,125-cut fresh ribs, black-sauce pork ribs, eight side dishes, ₩3,000 kimchi stew, and yogurt dessert. Seokok Galbi is a great smoke-free pick for family meals or group dinners.

I visited Seokok Galbi, a great meat restaurant in Haeundae.

I revisited Seokok Galbi's Haeundae Jung-dong branch, a legendary rib spot in Busan. A meat master said to have won the Blue Ribbon for seven consecutive years and to have the know-how behind one of Busan's three major rib restaurants makes fresh pork ribs with an incredible 2,125 precise cuts! They were still so delicious that I had to marvel after trying them—let's get right into it!

A comfortable charcoal-grilled rib restaurant near Jung-dong Station

It is near Exit 7 of Jung-dong Station in Haeundae-gu, Busan. It is close to Haeundae Beach and Dalmaji-gil, so I strongly recommend adding it to a travel itinerary too!

The interior has a neat, modern black-and-white feel. Thanks to the individual-ventilation charcoal system, I did not have to worry at all about smoke or odors despite this being a meat restaurant.

There is storage space and a plastic bag beneath each chair, so zero worries about your clothes picking up a smell! Even the soju glasses are so pretty—an atmosphere that makes the drinks go down sweetly 🥂

How does the first order work?

You can order conveniently on a tablet, so here are a few useful tips for dining here!

Tablet ordering and restaurant guide

Your first order must be at least three portions, and you can mix fresh ribs and black-sauce pork ribs! For example, two portions of fresh ribs plus one portion of black sauce.

Scan the QR code on the tablet screen and leave a review on KakaoMap, Google, or Karrot to receive a complimentary soft drink or alcoholic beverage, so make sure not to miss it!

2,125-cut fresh ribs and black-sauce pork ribs

They say the premium Grade 1 pork comes from pigs raised on clean Namhae garlic, handled by a meat master who studied animal science at Gyeongsan National University and holds a Korean cuisine master qualification in meat. Once I grilled it myself, the difference was clear.

Seokok 2125 artisan fresh ribs

Seokok 2125 artisan fresh ribs are ₩13,000 per portion. The instant I bit into the fresh ribs, golden on the charcoal grill, all the rich juices trapped between those 2,125 precise cuts burst across my whole mouth—pow! 💥

Every strand of meat was incredibly tender, melting away in the mouth. The more I chewed, the savory, clean flavor of the meat blended with a gentle charcoal aroma—never greasy, with umami exploding in every bite. I immediately understood from the first piece why people call these life-changing fresh ribs!

Each table is set with a fascinating automatic salt grinder! Just tap the button and premium salt whirs out in the most charming way. This salt is delicious!!! I absolutely recommend sprinkling it on or dipping your meat in it, haha.

Seokok black-sauce pork ribs

Seokok black-sauce pork ribs cost ₩13,000 per portion, and I ordered two portions. Marinated in a secret black-sauce seasoning with 30 years of tradition, these ribs are on a completely different level from the usual artificial, merely sweet marinated ribs.

The sweet yet salty, deep soy-based marinade penetrates deeply into the meat, and even the sweet smoky aroma as it grills over charcoal is a work of art. The outside turns glossy and juicy; in your mouth, that golden sweet-salty balance perfectly meets the savory richness of the fat.

Start clean and simple with the fresh ribs, then add a little sweetness with the black-sauce pork ribs, and you have a fantastic course that never gets tiring.

Eight side dishes and the self-service bar

As the table guide says, there are eight special side dishes made to pair with the meat, and a separate self-service bar makes refills easy! They even include a vitamin tablet to look after your health—such a thoughtful little touch, haha.

Seed jeotgal (salted seafood) with kelp wraps brings together the crunchy nuttiness of seeds, salty jeotgal, and ocean-scented kelp with tender fresh ribs for an insanely good textural combination.

Pickled mustard greens with wasabi cut through the richness completely with the greens' crisp, pleasantly bitter bite and wasabi's sharp kick—ultimate freshness!

You absolutely have to grill Seokok's green-onion kimchi lightly on the charcoal grate!

The green onion's sweetness comes alive, making its harmony with grilled meat simply incredible. Yeonggwang glutinous-barley ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), Gyeongsang-style bang-a pickles, and MZ mala sauce are fun to mix and match according to your taste.

₩3,000 MinSaeng kimchi stew and steamed rice

MinSaeng kimchi stew is ₩3,000. Simmered thoroughly in a cauldron, this is honestly an unbelievably generous menu item that would be a loss not to order! It is hard to believe the price is only ₩3,000 when the pot is filled with tofu, big chunks of minced meat, and well-fermented kimchi.

MinSaeng kimchi stew

It comes with thin ramen noodles as standard in the deep, spicy broth. The stew broth soaks right into the noodles, making every slurp feel worthy of a main dish all on its own.

Steamed rice is ₩2,000. It arrives at LTE-level speed—practically one second after ordering, haha. The rice is fluffy and glossy like it was just cooked, so top it with a piece of nicely grilled sweet black-sauce rib, mix in plenty of the spicy kimchi-stew broth, and a whole bowl disappears in no time.

One yogurt dessert per person

After enjoying the full sweet and savory meat course, each person can thoughtfully finish with a yogurt dessert! This wonderful final service freshens and cools the palate so completely that I felt happy right up until I left, haha.

For family meals and group dinners in Haeundae

Since 1999, the know-how of a master devoted to pork for so long has been deeply woven into everything here: the interior, meat quality, side dishes, and even the thoughtful yogurt dessert.
