While wondering what to eat in Busan, I started craving a hot broth, so I visited Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch. There are so many places to eat around Gyeongseong University that it is hard to choose, but that day I just wanted a properly filling meal rather than lots of different things.

So, I headed to Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap, a well-known spot near Gyeongseong University!

Dwaeji gukbap (pork-and-rice soup) is unlikely to disappoint, and it feels like you have had a real meal, so it is one of those dishes I think of whenever I come to Busan.
Pork soup near Gyeongseong and Pukyong universities
Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch is close to Gyeongseong University and Pukyong National University, so it was in a great location to stop by for a meal.

There are lots of students around, plus plenty of bars and cafés nearby, so it is a nice neighborhood for moving on somewhere else after eating.

Two bowls of soup and one order of dumplings
We ordered two bowls of gukbap and one order of dumplings! Looking at the menu, the pork, sundae (Korean blood sausage), offal, and mixed gukbap were all ₩9,500. Suyuk baekban (boiled pork with a set meal) was ₩13,000, the taster suyuk was ₩14,000, and 10 dumplings were ₩6,000.

Considering prices these days, it felt like a good price for a properly filling meal among the restaurants near Gyeongseong University.
Pork soup is best while it is piping hot
As soon as the gukbap arrived, my first thought was, “Ah, we chose well today.” Mix rice into that steaming broth and it is exactly the comforting, filling meal you know and love! Gukbap does not need to be flashy with this and that—the important thing is that the broth and pork work well together.

A few spoonfuls in, I could see why pork soup is never left off the list when people look for good food near Gyeongseong University. Especially on days when you want to be truly full from one meal, there is nothing quite like gukbap. One bowl each was just the right amount for the two of us.
I am glad we ordered dumplings too
We were going to order only gukbap, but it felt like something was missing, so we added dumplings. To get straight to the point, I am glad we did. Ten dumplings for ₩6,000 were easy for two people to share, and having one now and then between bites of soup made me keep reaching for them.

A bite of hot gukbap, one dumpling, then back to the gukbap… this combination was better than I expected. If gukbap alone feels a little incomplete at a restaurant near Gyeongseong University, try adding an order of dumplings.
For a filling meal near Gyeongseong University

For those moments, Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch was a good choice near Gyeongseong University.

If you visit as a pair like us, two bowls of gukbap plus one order of dumplings is a great combination. It is not too expensive and fills you right up—it really felt like a proper meal!

If you are around Gyeongseong University wondering, “What should we eat today?” and find yourself craving warm broth, stop by Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap. Two bowls of gukbap and dumplings may sound like nothing special, but somehow that is exactly the kind of meal that satisfies most.
