Loin and fillet katsu set for two near Pangyo Station: Katsu Shokudo

On a Saturday afternoon, I went with a friend to grab lunch at Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, a Pangyo Hyundai Department Store go-to.

The entrance had years' worth of Blue Ribbon stickers plastered on it, so I went in with high expectations — and there was no disappointment from the very first bite! I've packed in an honest review of the hearty loin katsu along with practical info like location, parking, menu prices, and hours, so stick with me to the end!

Where is Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch and what about parking?

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, a Pangyo Hyundai Department Store favorite, is just a 2-minute walk from Exit 3 of Pangyo Station on the Sinbundang and Gyeonggang lines. It's on basement level 1 of Alphadom Tower 3, right across from Hyundai Department Store, so it wasn't hard to find at all. Best of all, it's connected underground to the department store, so you can get there comfortably without worrying about the weather!

If you're driving, the Alphadom Tower parking lot gives you 3 hours free, which took some of the parking stress off my mind.

But here's the real tip — if you visit on a weekend and buy something at the department store, parking ends up being basically free for the entire day, haha.

If you're planning to shop too, that takes a huge chunk of the parking cost off, so there's really no better spot. Parking in Pangyo is always something I worry about, so having this kind of support made driving there much more relaxing. Hours are daily from 11:20 AM to 9:30 PM, so it's great for enjoying a hearty lunch or dinner.

Atmosphere and solo-dining seats

There were 4-person tables as well as seats where you could comfortably eat solo. I don't think dining alone would feel awkward here.

Something caught my eye the moment I sat down. On the table, along with the usual salt and chili flakes, there was even a hair tie! I'm guessing it's a thoughtful touch so people with long hair can tie it back and eat comfortably. A small detail like that made me feel good and I could sense the care put into it, haha.

On top of that, if you write a receipt review, you get to play a no-miss raffle, which added a little extra fun to the meal.

The two of us ordered the set for two. It comes with loin katsu and fillet katsu, plus mini curry and soba, so it was perfect for trying a bit of everything. The set for two costs ₩35,000.

Just tonkatsu alone might feel a little lacking, but with curry and soba added, it makes for a really well-rounded meal.

The curry in particular is refillable, so I mixed it into a bowl of white rice and polished off another hearty serving, haha. Mixing a whole bowl of rice into the curry filled me up so much that I left completely stuffed, haha.

Since it's kiosk ordering, there was no need to wait in line — ordering was easy.

Loin katsu vs. fillet katsu: taste and texture

First, the loin katsu I ate! The meat was really substantial and the coating was crispy. Even though it was thick, it wasn't tough at all, and the savory flavor came through more the more I chewed.

From the crunchy sound alone, I knew this was it, and before I knew it, one piece after another and the plate was empty, haha.

The fillet katsu my friend had was noticeably softer than the loin. If you find things too greasy or you prefer a softer texture, I'd recommend the fillet!

Ordering one plate of loin and one of fillet to share meant we got to enjoy both textures at once, and I really loved this combo.

Dipping the katsu deep into the curry gave it a whole different flavor, so I never got tired of it and kept reaching for more.

The soba was cold and clean, which did a great job of refreshing the palate after the heartiness of the fried katsu. Alternating between a crispy bite of katsu and a cool bite of soba made for a really satisfying meal!

At Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, a great tonkatsu spot in Pangyo, I got to fully enjoy both the loin and fillet katsu. Parking was easy and it's connected to the department store, so the flow from eating to shopping felt really natural and I loved that.
