The weather was gloomy a while back and I found myself craving spicy, hearty home-style food, so I took my mom out to eat!

While looking for a clean, rich-tasting Korean restaurant that would win my mom's taste buds over, I decided on Choburi Kimchi Jjigae Gojan Main Branch (초부리김치찌개 고잔본점).

To cut to the chase, both my parents and I came away totally satisfied with our meal! If anyone's looking for a good spot in Gojan-dong, I can confidently recommend this place.
A place with great atmosphere in Gojan-dong, visited with my mom
Apparently this restaurant was hugely loved in Sa-dong before expanding and relocating to Gojan-dong — the space is spacious, with 58 seats, so it felt really comfortable.

Large air conditioners and neatly installed induction stoves at every table made for a really pleasant meal even on a hot day. My mom liked the clean atmosphere the moment we walked in, which made me really proud.

I felt so proud that I'd picked the right place in Gojan-dong! Interior and atmosphere: pass ^^
A hearty spread: the 2-person set with extra meat and kimchi jeonbyeong
We ordered the 2-person set with extra meat and added a side of kimchi jeonbyeong (kimchi pancake roll)! The moment the food arrived, the visuals alone made my mouth water.

This place uses a traditional recipe passed down for three generations since 2006, and only uses chewy, thin-skinned pork from an officially certified Hanwoo pork store. Maybe thanks to the perfect ratio of lean meat to fat, the broth got richer and more savory the longer it simmered.

Plus, ordering the set comes with unlimited ramen noodle refills, so eating the noodles together with the meat and kimchi was absolutely delicious.

I instantly understood why everyone around here swears by this as the best stone-pot rice restaurant in Ansan.

The portions were generous, and being able to freely help ourselves to unlimited rice, side dishes, and broth at the self-bar made it feel like great value too.
Freshly made golden gardenia stone-pot rice and crispy kimchi jeonbyeong
The golden gardenia stone-pot rice, cooked to order the moment we ordered it, caught my eye right away with its yellow color!

Mixing the freshly cooked, warm, savory rice with the spicy kimchi jjigae ingredients on top made for pure happiness — so good!

You could freely go back for more rice, side dishes, and broth at the self-bar if you ran low, and I really felt the owner's generosity in that.

The kimchi jeonbyeong (kimchi pancake roll) we ordered as a side was packed full inside, crispy outside and moist inside — a real delicacy. Truly the kind of dish that makes you eat way too much rice — this is the best stone-pot rice restaurant in Ansan, no question!

Oh! And this perilla oil fried egg went so well mixed into the stew. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again!
A perfect finish with a full dessert course
After the meal, there was a full dessert self-bar too! From a savory misugaru (roasted grain powder) slushie that's right up any grandma's alley, to three flavors of ice cream, Paul Bassett brewed coffee, and mix coffee — we enjoyed a generous palate cleanser.

Oh! And after finishing the meal, this nurungji (scorched rice) was such a nice, savory palate cleanser too. I loved everything about this place from start to finish! From the food quality to the dessert service, everything was on point. This was truly a wonderful stone-pot rice restaurant in Ansan for eating out with parents or family.
