Suction-machine dress line care at Ryeowon Skin Care, Nowon

In short

Ryeowon Skin Care is a skin and body care studio right outside Exit 3 of Nowon Station in Seoul, offering contouring, dress line care and head spa. After getting proposed to, the writer booked a private room for about an hour of suction-machine dress line care covering the back, upper arms, underarms, collarbone, neck and chest line. It felt distinctly different from a regular hand massage, making it a good way to preview pre-wedding body care early.

After my boyfriend proposed and I started thinking seriously about wedding prep, people around me kept saying that dress line care or contouring care is a must before the wedding. I haven't officially started full wedding prep yet, but I'd recently gotten curious about dress line care, and a good opportunity came up. Since the place was close to home too, I figured I'd give it a try. This time I visited "Ryeowon Skin Care".

A look around the studio

White-toned, tidy interior of Ryeowon Skin Care
Corner displaying face-shaped molds

The interior is all-white overall, giving it a clean, tidy feel. Since this is a place that specializes in creating a smaller, more balanced facial line, one corner had face-shaped molds on display. They seemed to show before-and-after results of actual clients, which caught my eye even more.

This place also does head spa alongside facial line care, so overall it's set up as a space where you can get a variety of treatments. There was a vanity area on one side too, and looking closely, I noticed sunscreen, lip products, essence, combs, a hair dryer and hair products — all carefully prepared so you can freshen up and leave comfortably right after your treatment.

Price list and the bridal care package

The main programs are head spa, contouring care, and dress line care. Each can be booked as a single session, but since most of these treatments don't show results after just one visit, there are also 10-session packages. The most popular option, they said, is the bridal package that combines contouring care with dress line care. Apparently a lot of brides-to-be choose this one, and the fact that booking both as a package gets you one free groom contouring session felt like a nice perk.

I arrived at my booked time, and first filled out a short questionnaire asking whether I'd had this kind of treatment before, among other things. After that, I was led into a private room set up specifically for the dress line care.

How the dress line care actually goes

Treatment room with a belongings basket and gown ready

The treatment room was a private, single-person room, which felt nicely private. There was a basket set aside for belongings, so I left my bag and clothes there and changed into a gown as instructed. After changing, I lay comfortably on the bed and the treatment began.

The dress line care I'd booked is described as a pre-wedding treatment meant to make the body lines exposed when wearing a dress slimmer and smoother, completing the bride's silhouette. It covers the back, upper arms, underarms, collarbone, neck and chest line altogether, and it was noticeably different from a regular hand massage. It used a suction-type machine, and it felt almost like it was exercising that part of the body — which I found surprising.

The treatment lasted about an hour, and throughout it the therapist carefully checked the characteristics of my body and the current state of my body lines. She kept explaining, part by part, what condition each line was in, and kept telling me which areas I should pay more attention to. It wasn't just a fixed routine — it felt tailored to my own body and lines, which made it even more satisfying.

My honest thoughts

After the full treatment, I could see why brides-to-be get dress line care before the wedding. At first I thought dress line care wouldn't be that different from a regular massage, but using the suction machine definitely gave it a different feel from massages I'd had before. Afterward my body felt noticeably lighter, and I was especially satisfied to get focused care on the body lines I usually worry about.

I haven't officially started full wedding prep yet, but for any bride-to-be who wants to get ahead on the body lines that show when wearing a dress before her wedding or photo shoot, this seems worth trying at least once. If you've gotten curious about dress line care as you start wedding prep, it might be worth experiencing it early like I did to see if it's the right fit for you.
