Weekend free parking walk to pork belly for 3 in Uijeongbu: Cheonpo

In short

Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch is a tile-roofed pork belly restaurant walkable from Uijeongbu Station, Gyeonggi. Parking free on weekends at Uijeongbu City Hall, a 13-minute walk away, the writer ordered three servings of pork belly and minari doenjang stew, plus complimentary yukhoe and self-bar minari kimchi pancake that made three servings almost too much. Pairing the meal with a 10-minute walk to Jeil Market afterward made for a great combo course.

Pork belly table setting at Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch

Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch — an Uijeongbu pork belly favorite. I kept thinking "I really should go to Uijeongbu sometime~" until a neighbor raved about this place recently, and I got such a sudden craving that I went, planning to stop by Jeil Market too, to this famous Uijeongbu pork belly spot.

Where to park if you're driving

The location is fairly close to Uijeongbu Station, but for those of us coming from far away by car, here's a parking tip: Uijeongbu City Hall is about a 13-minute walk away, and parking there is free on weekends, so you can park and wander around freely afterward.

Tile-roofed exterior of Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch

The weather that day felt like somewhere between summer and fall, perfect for a leisurely stroll, so we walked over slowly and arrived to find the distinctive tile-roofed exterior giving off a totally different vibe haha^^

Interior and self-service corner

The interior is quite spacious, and toward the restrooms there was even a hidden private space that felt like a group room^^

The overall interior mixes an Asian feel with a hint of modern, and the self-service corner right next to the entrance shows off the owner's generous spirit.

You can make kimchi pancake yourself at the self-bar.

What we ordered and the prices

We were craving pork belly like crazy that day, so we decided to go all in on three servings of just pork belly^^

  • Minari doenjang stew ₩3,000
  • Rice (2 bowls) ₩2,000

Table set with basic side dishes for pork belly

We had no idea the basic side dishes here would be this elaborate when we ordered three servings of pork belly. Yukhoe (raw beef tartare) and kimchi pancake showed up too, filling us up before we'd even started~

Basic sides and portion size

Not just plain ssamjang but rich gangdoenjang (thick fermented soybean paste), plenty of wraps, and the free yukhoe and minari kimchi pancake — wow..

And then the visual of three huge chunks of pork belly topped with minari, scallion strips, and kimchi genuinely stunned me haha. Is Cheonpo Hoegwan's serving just huge, or do other places just give less?

Three chunks of pork belly with minari, scallion strips, and kimchi

This was the first time we ever struggled to finish three servings of pork belly — the meat itself was that substantial. This is a restaurant that gives generously without holding back^^

The feast starts with minari kimchi pancake

To really get the meal going, first you go to the self-bar, pour oil into the frying pan, and pour in the minari kimchi pancake batter. Sizzle it up as an appetizer to warm up your appetite first.

Along with the kimchi pancake, we also dug into the unexpected free yukhoe, then the rice and doenjang stew on top of that — full already lolllll.

But this was just the beginning.. we hadn't even eaten the meat yet and already thought "this is delicious!" — such a strange kind of good restaurant^^

A whole chunk of pork belly grilling

Wow, even though I couldn't eat any more, just looking at this single hunk of meat was mesmerizing. I honestly wanted to eat it whole like that if I could..

So we cut the meat into easy-to-eat pieces and grilled it up with kimchi, scallion strips, and minari, enjoying it all together.

How was the pork belly?

The meat won from the smell alone^^ Just as expected, the meat was packed with juice, savory and flavorful with amazing texture — dipped in salt, in sesame oil sauce, in all kinds of ways, wrapped in lettuce or eaten straight — every way of eating it was a joy at this restaurant.

By about two-thirds through the meat, we were already stuffed, but it was so good we just kept eating without leaving any haha

Pork belly enjoyed with a soda drink

Enjoying it with soda in between cut the greasiness, keeping it light and savory all the way through, and we savored the meat till the end. We arrived at an odd hour so there weren't many other customers at first, but families started pouring in one after another.

Walking course to Jeil Market after the meal

Honestly, I'd had pork belly a few times recently but never felt truly satisfied, so I kept craving it again and again — Cheonpo Hoegwan finally scratched that itch properly.

Maybe because of how memorable this Cheonpo Hoegwan visit was, I found myself liking the neighborhood so much I'd want to move to Uijeongbu if it weren't for work. And about a 10-minute walk from Cheonpo Hoegwan Uijeongbu Main Branch is the fairly famous Jeil Market, so we walked over to help digest the meal — a great combo course, worth keeping in mind. Wrapping up this Cheonpo Hoegwan visit, a place worth making a special trip to Uijeongbu for^^
