Uijeongbu bakery for yellow cheese financiers: Byway Bakers

In short

Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch is a financier and salt bread bakery on a side street off Cheongsa-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. This visit picked five kinds of financiers, including the yellow cheese one, plus a peach wakppu salt bread that you crack the crust open before eating. The yellow cheese financier goes well with coffee, and the peach wakppu salt bread is both fun and genuinely tasty.

I have a dessert spot I'm really into these days — Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch near the Cheongsa area in Uijeongbu!! This isn't a one-and-done place for me — I've already gone back so many times it's basically my regular haunt. The bread is delicious and the dessert lineup is so varied that every visit means a happy dilemma over what to pick. I especially love financiers, and the ones here really suit my taste, so I stop by whenever I'm craving financiers in Uijeongbu. Let me introduce it~~~^^

Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch is a clean, tidy-looking bakery that catches your eye even just passing by. When I visited, there were people buying bread to take home as well as others picking out desserts to eat in the store. It's great for just grabbing a single bread, but it's also perfect for boxing up an assortment of desserts to take with you — the kind of place that comes to mind when you need a gift or a snack haha.

Five financiers tasted: why yellow cheese won

On this visit to Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch, I picked out five kinds of financiers I love. And the menu item I was most looking forward to on this visit was the peach wakppu salt bread!

It was fun trying one of each financier flavor, and as expected they suited my taste perfectly. I especially love the yellow cheese financier, so of course I made sure to grab one this time too.

The savory-salty flavor unique to yellow cheese matches so well with the financier's richness, and it goes great with coffee. I already love financiers to begin with, but Byway Bakers' financiers are the kind of thing where every single time I eat one I think 'yep, this is good.' That's one of the reasons I keep coming back.

Byway Bakers desserts are also great for packing up to take home. They're nice packaged individually as gifts, and you can also grab several as snacks for a group — so if you're looking for Uijeongbu cake gifts, dessert gifts, or snacks for an event or gathering, this place is worth keeping in mind. If you love bakery-hopping, I'd recommend picking one of each kind to take with you.

How to eat the peach wakppu salt bread

The most fun item on this visit was definitely Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch's peach wakppu salt bread. Doesn't the name alone make you curious? haha Wakppu salt bread isn't something you just eat plainly — as the name suggests, the fun is in crumbling it as you eat. You gently crumble the crust while eating, and the whole eating method is so entertaining I think it'd be fun to eat with kids too hahaha. But it's not just fun — the taste held up too.

Biting into the inside, I was genuinely surprised at how much peach was packed in. The savory, salty richness of the salt bread combined with the sweet, tangy peach turned out to be a much better pairing than I expected.

Crumbling through the crispy, savory salt bread and then getting to the peach inside made for interesting texture and a flavor that felt refreshingly different.

Byway Bakers as a stop on a Uijeongbu bakery-hopping route

I'd recommend this to anyone who already loves salt bread, as well as anyone looking for something a little more special!! hahaha Especially if you're on the hunt for a good wakppu salt bread spot, this is worth trying at least once.

If you're in Uijeongbu looking for good desserts or financiers, this place is worth a visit. I'd recommend it to fellow financier lovers like me, and also to anyone who wants something a bit different from plain salt bread. The peach wakppu salt bread I had this time nailed both fun and flavor, and I know I'll think about it again next time. Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch is definitely staying on my Uijeongbu bakery-hopping list!! I'll be back again for more delicious desserts. :)
