Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant, red snapper for two: Eochongye 1beonji
In short
Eochongye 1beonji is a sashimi restaurant on Hwagok-ro in Sinwol-dong, near Hwagok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. On a Sunday evening, two diners ordered the small red snapper sashimi platter with beer, plus spicy fish stew and a bowl of rice, and the small platter alone was more than enough for two. The leftover stew at Eochongye 1beonji was packed to go and still tasted great the next day, making it a sashimi restaurant worth a return visit.

Why we chose Eochongye 1beonji, a Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant, on a Sunday evening
Eochongye 1beonji is a Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant at 123 Hwagok-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, near the Hwagok Station restaurant alley. I'd heard the tanks were clean and the sashimi fresh, so I went on a Sunday evening.

It was a Sunday evening after my boyfriend and I visited the sunflower festival in Gyodong, Ganghwa! Going straight home felt like a waste, so we decided to eat some good sashimi at this hot Sinwol-dong restaurant near our place.

We headed straight to Eochongye 1beonji, near the Hwagok Station restaurant alley, known for good value and a wide menu.

Is there parking at Eochongye 1beonji?
Eochongye 1beonji has parking right in front of the restaurant. We got lucky and parked right out front! Looks like there's room for about 5 cars, so if you need parking, it's probably best to call ahead.

Even though we arrived early, the place was already pretty full — you could feel the vibe of a famous Sinwol-dong restaurant.

A trustworthy Hwagok-dong restaurant with a Japanese chef who has 30 years of experience — expectations rising already.
A Hwagok Station sashimi restaurant that felt great from the start.
Is the small red snapper sashimi platter enough for two?
At Eochongye 1beonji, the small size of the red snapper sashimi platter was plenty for two. We paired it with a nice cold bottle of beer.

After carefully reading the menu, we ordered the small red snapper sashimi platter. We debated which size to get, but they told us the small was enough for two, so we went with that!

We also added a cold bottle of beer! Soon the side dishes arrived — well-rounded and neatly presented, it was impressive.

With a table spread like this at one of the top Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurants, I couldn't help but look forward to the main sashimi.

And finally, the red snapper sashimi platter appeared!

Both of us gasped at the thick cuts and the vivid, fresh color.
It's the small size, but plenty for two — the generous portions this popular Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant is known for.

Easily the best around Hwagok-dong! The bouncy, chewy texture filling the mouth confirmed why it's the top Hwagok Station restaurant.

Spicy fish stew, and taking the leftovers home
At Eochongye 1beonji we followed the sashimi with spicy fish stew (maeuntang) and rice, and packed the leftover stew to go. My boyfriend always insists on maeuntang and rice after sashimi!

So we ordered the spicy fish stew too. The bubbling broth was rich and hit the spot — a real Sinwol-dong favorite. We were already too full, so a lot of the stew was left over, but they kindly packed it for us. Taken home and eaten the next day, it was still delicious! A warm-hearted day thanks to this considerate Hwagok-dong restaurant's service.
Since it's fall, they had plump grilled prawns too — next time I want to tackle the grilled prawns. The crab seafood ramyeon is also famous at this Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant, so I'm already looking forward to going back. A course that brought real happiness — a Hwagok-dong restaurant I'm marking to revisit, a Hwagok Station restaurant I'll be back for!
The sashimi restaurant in Gangseo I want to go back to

A perfect way to end the weekend with my boyfriend. I completely fell for the friendly, generous charm of this Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant and plan to visit again soon. Eochongye 1beonji, a Sinwol-dong restaurant with standout freshness! My top pick on the list of hot Hwagok Station sashimi restaurants.
A Sinwol-dong hideout I'd recommend, and a successful Hwagok-dong food exploration. Great in both taste and portion — I recommend this Sinwol-dong sashimi restaurant. Two thumbs up for my favorite, Eochongye 1beonji! I'd confidently call it the best Hwagok Station sashimi restaurant — strongly recommend making it your regular spot!
