This place sits in the alley behind CGV. It is an easy five-minute walk from Exit 5 of Sinnonhyeon Station, with good access from Gangnam Station too. I recommend parking at a nearby public lot beforehand and walking over.

Plenty of room across a whole three-story building

The inside of Bakerist Brown, this Gangnam bakery café, is seriously huge. It takes over an entire three-story building, with enough seating that choosing where to sit is part of the fun. When I want to chat over delicious desserts without worrying about anyone else, a big café like this is the answer.

Each area from the first through third floors has its own charm, so I took a quick look around. The ground-level first floor has a slightly semi-basement feel, which gives it the atmosphere of an extra-special hideout. I also loved that there are separate restrooms for men and women inside.

From baked goods to seasonal chilled desserts

Once I had picked my seat, it was time to choose what I wanted to eat. Bongsam is usually a fan of baked sweets and pies, and they are all gathered here. There were beautiful, colorful madeleines and plenty of pie-style pastries, including croissants.

The egg tarts looked so amazing that I wanted to grab several. And if you are looking for a Gangnam bakery that does salt bread well, Bakerist Brown is the answer. A lineup of gorgeous sio-ppang (salt bread) was waiting.

On my last visit, I tried the chilled desserts, and I still remember how truly delicious the mango croissant was. Fig and Chodang sweet corn, now in season, caught my eye. The fig pavlova especially feels like a mini whole cake, so it would be perfect for making a simple celebration feel special.

Since I had come after a substantial meal, I picked up a few simple things, including salt bread from this Gangnam bakery. For a drink, I chose the salt cream coffee I had been curious about for ages! I also ordered a hidden new menu item, so please look forward to it.

After a short wait for preparation, today’s desserts arrived. Wow, they were so pretty I did not know what to do with myself. These brightly colored desserts are Gangnam Sand cookies, which I will show you below.

Nutty, gently sweet salt cream coffee

First was the salt cream coffee, reminiscent of the salty coffee I often buy when I travel abroad. When I nudged the cream, I thought it did not seem like ordinary whipped cream—and oh my goodness.... One sip proved it: it was really nutty and not overly sweet, totally my style.

Even when I visit Bakerist Brown, this Gangnam bakery café, next time, I will order this again. I think anyone who likes cheese foam will absolutely love it; mixed with the gently sweet coffee, it has such an intriguingly wonderful charm.

Crisp, savory salt bread

Of the desserts, I tried the salt bread first. It has an adorable shape and an incredible taste. Its bottom was wonderfully crisp, while its large hollow interior made it the very definition of salty and nutty. It was pleasantly chewy and so good that I wanted to eat three of these alone as a meal.

Then there were the Gangnam Sand cookies, which I ordered in several flavors, remembering how much I had enjoyed similar Maeum Sand and Jeju Sand cookies before. Oh... from the colorful care put into baking the cookie shells to the sandwiched cream, nothing about them was ordinary.

Inside the substantial yet melt-in-your-mouth cookies was lots of delicious cream! Wow, these would be so good as gift favors; well done, me, for ordering a set..! I will take the rest home and savor them one by one by myself.

A reliably good afternoon, from salt bread to coffee

So, my personal impression after visiting Bakerist Brown, this Gangnam bakery café, is that it is a dessert café with savory, clean-tasting salt bread.
