Mokdong ramen lunch with rich motsu broth: Gyedan Ramen

I had a delicious lunch at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch, a great ramen spot near Hyundai Department Store in Omokgyo, Mokdong. It recently opened in the basement of the Mokdong SBS building, and I recommend it for lunch because it is great for dining alone and the food is clean-tasting and delicious. 😊

Location and atmosphere at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch near Omokgyo Station

Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a Mokdong ramen spot 470 m from Exit 2 of Omokgyo Station. It is on the first basement floor of the Mokdong SBS headquarters shopping building.

A fresh new restaurant that opened earlier this month! There were even congratulatory opening wreaths, and since it had just opened, the interior was clean and lovely too.

Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch had a warm, comfortable wood-toned atmosphere. There were partitioned solo seats for an easy meal alone, plus tables for two and four in various sizes. I arrived right at the 11 a.m. opening time, so I was the first one there haha. The kind staff gave me a warm welcome. Since I was dining solo, I took a partitioned one-person seat. It was private and undisturbed—so good for eating alone! 😍

Motsu ramen and sides ordered from the kiosk

You can order from the kiosk at each seat. The Japanese-style ramen menu included Gyedan Ramen and motsu ramen (ramen with beef or pork offal), and you could choose regular or rich broth. You can add toppings such as egg or chashu for an extra charge. An extra bowl of rice was free. I ordered one regular motsu ramen with extra chashu, Sapporo draft beer, and milk tea.

Spicy sauce and kimchi were set out at each seat. The kimchi was crisp and fresh, while the spicy sauce was savory with just the right kick for ramen, so it suited my taste perfectly.

First, the Sapporo draft beer and milk tea arrived. I took big gulps of the ice-cold beer first, and my thirst disappeared right away! I saved the sweet milk tea for dessert. 😉❤️

The smooth, delicious Sapporo draft beer went wonderfully with the motsu ramen. It was my first time sitting in a partitioned solo seat like this, and it was fun—I felt like I was quietly hiding out (?) to drink draft beer, haha. The sweet, nutty milk tea came chilled in a bottle, so it was nice that I could take it to go too. ☺️

Motsu ramen with deep, rich broth

The piping-hot regular motsu ramen came out quickly too! It arrived filling a generously sized bowl.

Doesn't the broth look incredibly rich and nutty at a glance? Even though I ordered the regular version, its deep, concentrated flavor really stood out.

It included pork intestines, wood ear mushrooms, and egg, and the chashu I added was cooked together with it. Everything was nicely seasoned and tasty, but the pork intestines in particular were so wonderfully chewy!! 😍

Slurp! The ramen noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, and they were so delicious with that deep, rich motsu ramen broth. ❤️

I added spicy sauce and ate it as karai ramen (spicy ramen), which was wonderfully spicy too. After finishing the noodles, I stirred a bowl of rice into the broth and ate it with kimchi, and it had a different kind of charm. Since the broth was so good, everything—noodles or rice—was delicious. I was absolutely stuffed after adding the rice!!

Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was a satisfying solo lunch near Mokdong SBS. It is close to Hyundai Department Store at Omokgyo Station in Mokdong, so stop by for a meal before or after shopping. It was a lovely weekday lunch of delicious Japanese ramen. ☺️
