A wood-fired pizza restaurant in Haenggung-dong near Hwaseong Haenggung
Last weekend, I went to Haenggung-dong in Suwon and had a date at this lovely Italian restaurant. 💗 The place we visited this time was The European Haenggung Main Branch, near Suwon Hwaseong.
📍 1F, 21-1 Haenggung-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea ⏰ Daily 11:30–21:30 Last order 21:00 (Please check the latest opening hours before visiting.) 🚘 Parking — no parking in the building (Use a nearby public parking lot)

You can enjoy wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta together in Haenggung-dong, and the atmosphere was so good that I recommend it for dates—especially blind dates!!

Even from the outside, it felt different from an ordinary chain restaurant. Total great-pizza-place vibes... It is close to Hwaseong Haenggung, so it was conveniently located for heading over for a meal after sightseeing. Like, really close!

That aura of a great Haenggung-dong pizza place, right from the exterior

There is no dedicated restaurant parking, so if you are driving, please check nearby public parking lots before visiting! I recommend the public lot right in front of the restaurant. (It seemed like the cheapest one near Suwon Haenggung.) We parked here too!
Inside The European Haenggung Main Branch and its seating

The interior was more spacious than it looked from the entrance.

There were really lots of seats, from tables for two to private group seating, so I think it would be great for a year-end group gathering with a nice atmosphere too.

Maybe because the atmosphere is so nice, haha, there were lots of couples and people on blind dates. It also seems like a good Suwon restaurant for a wedding-invitation get-together.

The lighting, curtains, and furniture too ㅠㅠ So pretty, right?
Signature funghi pizza and ragù pasta

The tableware was set so prettily ~

What we ordered was: - Signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza (₩31,000) - Beef Ragù Pasta (₩22,000). Ordering one pizza and one pasta meant the dishes did not overlap, and it was nice to alternate between the two.

Signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza
Since we came looking for a great pizza place in Haenggung-dong, we chose the signature pizza! Signature Jambon Truffle Funghi Pizza (₩31,000)

There was a poached egg in the center of the pizza, with generous amounts of jambon and mushrooms. The staff explained that we should break up the egg well and spread it evenly over the whole pizza before eating it.

Breaking the yolk and having it with the jambon and mushrooms made it soooo smooth.

The distinct aroma of truffle and mushrooms came through gently, while the saltiness of the jambon made the flavor quite rich.
Beef Ragù Pasta
Beef Ragù Pasta (₩22,000)

The beef ragù pasta we ordered alongside it had a tomato-based ragù sauce, simmered richly with meat, that had soaked nicely into the noodles. Why is the poached egg so delicious ㅠㅠ

I liked it even more because the sauce was so thick and rich.

If you ask, the staff will bring you grated cheese and Tabasco sauce too!

The restrooms were also clean, inside the restaurant and separated by gender—good good for a blind-date restaurant ~

It is close to Hwaseong Haenggung, making it nice for a walk around the area before or after your meal, and the calm interior makes it a pleasant restaurant for dates or anniversary meals 🤍 We went at such an awkward time—around 3 p.m. on a Sunday?—but there were still quite a few people. So visitors may crowd in during popular hours; if you are going on a weekend or at mealtime, check whether reservations are available beforehand! 💗 I recommend The European Haenggung Main Branch to anyone looking for a good restaurant near Suwon or an Italian date restaurant in Suwon's Haenggung-dong!
