A stylish Italian restaurant near Jonggak Station

That day, I was craving something special and delicious—Italian food, of course. So I started looking for somewhere that felt incredibly atmospheric, served a varied menu, and did everything deliciously. Then I found this Jonggak date spot in the city between Euljiro and Myeong-dong, said to have a romantic mood and use top-quality, fresh ingredients, so off we went.

It was in a great location, just a three-minute walk from Jonggak Station, on the second floor of iM Financial Group.

We took the elevator up to the second floor, too.

It was also one of Catchtable's Best 100 restaurants.

I also liked that they displayed their popular dishes out front.

Window tables and open-kitchen bar seating

We excitedly headed inside, and there were spacious tables like these.

There were tables by the window, too.

There was bar seating as well, and because the kitchen was open, it was fun to watch the food being prepared. With its stylish interior and roomy seating overall, it was such a great place for a date, a blind date, or a get-together.

My mom, who came with me, loved it too, saying the atmosphere was so nice.

Choosing arancini, fresh pasta, and lasagna

Once we sat down, we looked over the menu. For mains, there were cuttlefish caponata, octopus confit potatoes, honey cod steak, prime chuck-flap steak, and wagyu MB9 short-rib steak. The appetizers included Caesar salad, grilled baby cabbage, Bolognese arancini, ricotta salad, olive flounder ceviche, burrata basil, and 1++ Korean beef carpaccio.

For sharing, there were truffle French fries, French onion soup, gambas al ajillo, akami fresh-tuna pizza, and seafood tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), too.

The pasta selection included truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle, truffle gnocchi, grade-A uni and sweet shrimp capellini, king prawn oil pasta, pomodoro burrata, gamberi rosé spaghettini, ragù lasagna, lemon-butter scallop spaghettini, vongole spaghettini, cuttlefish black-barley squid-ink risotto, spicy shrimp bisque risotto, and Wando abalone risotto.

There was also prime chuck-flap risotto, grade-A uni butter spaghettini, and lobster bisque spaghettini. For dessert, they had classic house-made tiramisu, crème brûlée, frozen yogurt ice cream, and Kyoto Uji matcha bingsu (shaved ice), so it would be perfect to finish with dessert. There were drinks and a wide range of alcohol to enjoy with the food as well.

After wondering what to choose, we ordered the ragù lasagna, truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle, and Bolognese arancini. Once we ordered, they brought out the bread first.

It was so delicious spread like this.

Then the Bolognese arancini appetizer arrived.

It was seasoned with Bolognese simmered in-house and aioli sauce.

It was wonderfully crisp outside and warm inside—so delicious. Maybe it was because they use only premium ingredients, but the flavor really was different.

Next, the ragù lasagna and truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle arrived.

Truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle

First up was the truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle.

Truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle

They flambéed the cream sauce and fresh tagliatelle right in front of us, mixed it once more in a cheese wheel, then topped it with fresh truffle. Finally, I took a bite, and the truffle aroma and rich creaminess were absolutely a work of art. I especially loved that the fresh pasta, made daily with Italian Caputo Saccorosso flour, held the sauce even better.

Ragù lasagna with stretchy cheese

Next came the lasagna. This was Italian-style ragù sauce with 33 layers of fresh pasta.

When I cut it in half, the cheese stretched so much!

Then I took a bite, and honestly, it made me happy immediately.

Lasagna cut into bite-size pieces

When you cut into it like this, you could see all 33 layers of fresh pasta. The two of us enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food, and before we knew it, we had finished everything! If you are looking for delicious Italian food and a lovely atmosphere in Jonggak, I recommend stopping by.
