When we're out and about with the kids, we're always on the hunt for a restaurant with a playroom that's both easy on the wallet and worth the money. Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang has branches everywhere, so I end up going often haha. Today we visited the Cheonan Sinbuldang branch. Here's my review :)

What are the dining room and kids' playroom like?

Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Cheonan Sinbuldang is a premium aged raw meat specialty restaurant, so you can see the delicious meat being kept on display.

This is the kids' zone. There were noticeably a lot of family visitors, since kids can play freely in a spacious, clean space.

The interior is spacious and pleasant. The tables are set well apart, and there's enough room for group parties too, so I'd recommend it for work dinners or gatherings as well. We arrived early, at 5pm, so there were plenty of seats and the playroom wasn't crowded, which was nice. But the tables near the playroom were already popular and fully booked.

This is the self-bar. It's set up neatly and cleanly, so you can help yourself to any extra side dishes you need. Since there's a kids' zone, I noticed they even had kids' spoons and forks set out.

Here's what we ordered:

• Aged pork half-portion (samgyeopsal + ogyeopsal + mokssal + hangjeongsal + gabrisal, 500g) ₩39,000

Our order came out, and the portion was generous~~ We're a family of four with two kids, and rather than sticking to one menu item, it was even more satisfying to enjoy a variety of textures and flavors.

Side dishes and jjolmyeon scallion salad: could the kids eat them?

The basic side dishes were set out, and there were plenty that went well with the meat, so I tried each one. None of them were overly seasoned, and each side dish tasted like it had real care put into it~ There was rolled egg (gyeranmari) and bracken (gosari) that the kids could eat too, so it was nice to have a wide range of side dishes to give them~

The scallion salad wasn't your ordinary pajae (scallion salad) — it had jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) mixed in, so it felt almost like eating jjolmyeon itself, and the sweet-and-tangy flavor went really well with the meat.

Every single cut of meat was delicious, no exceptions. I'm pretty sensitive to any gamey smell, but this meat was fresh with no odor at all, which made for a satisfying meal.

The cuts were thick, but with a strong flame, the outside got beautifully browned while the inside stayed juicy. The kids came back from playing hard and dug in happily, wrapping rice in lettuce leaves and eating it all up~ We all kept saying 'this meat is so good!' together as we ate.

A doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes standard, and it was loaded with tofu, zucchini, and onion — a generous amount that, paired with the meat and side dishes, made for a bowl of rice gone in no time.
