Seongdong Seoul Korean BBQ for date night: Yukseong

I stopped by Yukseong (육성), a Wangsimni Korean barbecue spot, for dinner with my boyfriend before our movie at Wangsimni CGV! It is within walking distance of both Sangwangsimni Station and Wangsimni Station, so getting there is easy.

Wow, seriously… with 100 percent sincerity, this is now my number-one pork barbecue restaurant among all the ones I have visited in the past few years⭐️ My boyfriend said it was so delicious that he would recommend it if a friend asked for a great restaurant in Seoul🤤👏

Yukseong… I hereby appoint you a Wangsimni CGV must-eat. We ate, took a leisurely walk over, and watched a late-night IMAX✨ Odyssey was sooo much fun too, so this date was perfect haha.

Maybe because it is known as a great place for group dinners near Sangwangsimni Station, the dining room was packed! I recommend making a Naver reservation in advance. Luckily, we walked in and there were one or two tables left.

What comes in the pork set?

Here is the menu at Yukseong, a Wangsimni meat restaurant👆 They have both pork and beef, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality. We ordered the pork set, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), rice, and Zero Coke.

The pork set comes with pork neck, gabrisal (pork collar), and ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly). I am normally firmly on team samgyeopsal, you know? But as I will explain below, every cut of pork at Yukseong just melts in your mouth, and the juices are in/sane. It is simply ridiculously deliciousㅠㅠ

Yukseong is a Sangwangsimni Station group-dinner spot with free corkage! If you do not bring corkage, they provide either one glass of wine or one Coke per person for free. Such good service👍

Side dishes and beef radish soup before the meat

And all of Yukseong's soups and side dishes are delicious too…ㅠㅠ Such moving flavors… My boyfriend raved that the complimentary beef radish soup tasted like something his mom would make. A rich yet clear and clean-tasting radish soup!

There was a great variety of sauces, crisp and tangy shredded radish, and fresh lettuce that they kept refilling~ Even the salad was delicious, with a lightly sweet dressing.

How can pork have marbling like this? Quality: good.

Yukseong uses eco-friendly corn fuel that produces less smoke, so somehow the meat tasted even deeper? Of course, the meat itself is high quality, but I think the corn fuel plays a part too🌽

The staff kindly grill all the meat from beginning to end haha. So convenient, and there is no chance of burning the meat~

You are the first pork neck this pretty that I have ever met😉

Doenjang jjigae, gabrisal, and ogyeopsal too

The doenjang jjigae we ordered on the side. As expected from a great meat restaurant near Sangwangsimni Station that also does stews well, it was spicy and deeply flavorful.

Next, they grilled the gabrisal and ogyeopsal. We have both been eating much less lately, but we could not stop reaching for our chopsticks…ㅜㅠ

The staff personally handed us grilled mushrooms and told us to eat them quickly while they were still juicy. Not only the meat but even the mushrooms at Yukseong were delicious!

The thick gabrisal was tender and savory, while the ogyeopsal was chewy and crisp~ I was honestly happy just knowing a pork restaurant this good is close to home🥹👍
