Noryangjin omakase sashimi set for two, Han River picnic: Ttangkkeut
In short
Ttangkkeut Maeul (땅끝마을) is a sashimi takeout shop in the first block on the left inside the Noryangjin Fish Market entrance in Dongjak, Seoul, affiliated with the Mermaid Cult Pirates (인어교주해적단) price-check service. The ttangmakase omakase set for two, reserved and prepaid on Naver, came with grouper, striped jack mackerel, large flounder, large red seabream and sea bass, plus complimentary sweet shrimp and sea urchin, and was taken to a Han River park picnic. Packed with ice packs, the sashimi was still cold an hour later, and it was the most satisfying takeout set the writer has had from Noryangjin.

Today I'm bringing you a review of picking up sashimi at Noryangjin Fish Market and having a picnic by the Han River~
⏰ Daily 9:00-20:30 / 🚘 30 minutes free parking, then ₩1,000 charged every 20 minutes
Why Ttangkkeut Maeul for a Noryangjin sashimi picnic?
The heat's finally easing up a bit and fall has arrived. And in fall, nothing beats sashimi haha. Gizzard shad sashimi, red seabream sashimi, all these delicious fish everywhere — I end up going to a sashimi restaurant almost every two weeks. Anyway, it seems like packing sashimi from Noryangjin to eat at Han River Park has been trending lately, so haha, I decided to try it myself 😁
Noryangjin Fish Market has a lot of famous sashimi takeout shops, but quite a few have awkward value for the price or skimpy portions. So this time I looked for a Mermaid Cult Pirates affiliate shop and visited! The affiliate shops definitely draw crowds~

Where is Ttangkkeut Maeul? First block left of the market entrance
The Ttangkkeut Maeul I visited is located in the first block if you turn left after entering. They use 2 storefronts and it's pretty large, so it was easy to find.

It says "Mermaid Cult Pirates affiliate store." If you go on their site you can see all the menu compositions and prices!

What the ttangmakase set for two includes, and how to reserve on Naver
I made a reservation through Naver and then visited! The menu is laid out in great detail on Naver so you can pay in advance. Ttangmakase (땅마카세, Ttangkkeut Maeul's own omakase) is this shop's signature, and there's assorted sashimi No.1, No.2, premium sashimi, salmon sashimi, red seabream sashimi, croaker special, croaker sashimi, Ttangkkeut Maeul's 3-kind sashimi, domestic flounder sashimi, and many other sets.
You can choose from almost every fish species, so it seems like you can order exactly what you want~ If what you want isn't on the menu, it might be good to call and ask. We reserved and picked up the ttangmakase for two in advance. The set included grouper/jack mackerel/flounder/brill/wild stone flounder/red seabream/sea bass/frozen bluefin tuna — since we're not the type to eat only salmon or flounder or rockfish, we really love sashimi haha, so this ttangmakase with its variety and premium fish species really appealed to us~~ Apparently the ttangmakase composition can change slightly day to day depending on what good catch is available!

You can pick a date and reserve through Naver, and there's a 5% discount coupon, so make sure you get the discount when you order takeout!!

Live seafood at Ttangkkeut Maeul and how the ice-pack takeout held up
After reserving, I visited the shop and they had a variety of seafood too — abalone, octopus, sea cucumber, sea squirt. The sea cucumbers were big and plump and tempting, but I'd already ordered octopus somewhere else so I held back for now haha. Next time I'll get the sea cucumber too haha

At this price with this kind of composition, I admit you can't hold back haha

They packed it wrapped tightly in ice packs like this. I took it out after about an hour and it was still cold, so the packing held up well!

Opening the ttangmakase at the Han River: sweet shrimp and sea urchin included
This is the ttangmakase set for two!! They even put sweet shrimp on top? Seems like it was a complimentary add-on, and I was so thankful haha. They also included a small packed portion of sea urchin. There was no sea urchin in the set, so I was thinking about buying it separately, but it was already included — I was really moved~

Looking from above, the sashimi might not look like a lot, but underneath there's a whole layer of flounder, sea bass, jack mackerel and more. Usually shops spread it sideways to make it look like more, but hahahaha the owner really packed it in tight. And because they only used things like large flounder and large sea bass, the slices were thick with great texture.
The sashimi tasted great overall (the red seabream texture was the best), and there was a bit of gizzard shad mixed in too — the nuttiness of fall gizzard shad was insane. Even the complimentary sea urchin was clean and delicious with no bitterness haha. My personal favorite was the jack mackerel — it had this subtle sweetness that spread through, really good. And out of all the sashimi takeout I've had from Noryangjin, this was the most satisfying set~!! If you're heading to Noryangjin Fish Market, I recommend Ttangkkeut Maeul's ttangmakase!
