Gwangalli brunch café with 8am opening and iced long black: Famous
In short
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a brunch café in an alley off Minrakbondong-ro in Suyeong-gu, Busan, opening at 8am. Stopping in during a walk along Gwangalli, the writer took a sunlit first-floor seat and ordered The Famous Benny salmon for 18,000 won and an iced long black for 5,500 won — one plate loaded with croissant, poached egg, avocado, macadamia and onion chips. With a long brunch list and low-acidity coffee that is easy to drink, Famous Benny is a café worth returning to in autumn.

The weather was so nice I just started walking around Gwangalli 😊 It's pretty in the daytime and gorgeous at night — Gwangalli's scenery never disappoints!
While wandering, I ended up at Famous Benny, a brunch café in Gwangalli that opens early in the morning. It opens at 8am, so it's great for people looking for morning coffee, and also for folks coming back from a run.
Choosing and ordering brunch: The Famous Benny salmon at 18,000 won

Most brunch cafés only have three or four dishes, but Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch had so many brunch options — and all of them looked delicious — that I honestly had a hard time choosing haha. I ended up ordering The Famous Benny salmon for ₩18,000 and an iced long black for ₩5,500.

First floor or second floor: where to sit at Famous Benny
While waiting for the food, I decided to look around the place. Since I came alone, I was debating whether to sit on the first floor or the second. The color palette wasn't too bold overall, and the warm natural light gave the whole café a nice 'good morning' feeling that I really loved.

Personally I prefer beans without much sourness, and this one had a pleasantly nutty, easy-drinking flavor. Makes me want to come back on a cool autumn day.
The first floor, with its bright natural light, was so pretty that I ended up settling there. The interior had such a hip mood that I wanted to just stay — like I'd found my own little hideout.

I was curious about the second floor too, so I went up to check it out. Since it's the kind of café where you can enjoy a relaxed brunch from the morning, there were guests taking their time alone as well as people working on laptops.

The window seat on the second floor was a fairly spacious standalone spot with a full glass wall, and the light poured in nicely there too. Kind of like your own quiet little hideout for reading a book. Even though it's known as a brunch spot in Gwangalli, I'd honestly want to recommend it as one of the hippest, coziest cafés around.

What comes on The Famous Benny salmon plate?
My order arrived! I got the most-ordered signature dish, which lets you choose bacon or salmon — I went with salmon! This isn't your everyday eggs Benedict.
It looked like every bit of it was made with care! Croissant, poached egg, avocado, macadamia, onion chips — the ingredients were seriously generous and abundant.

The long black used less water for a strong, concentrated coffee flavor, and the low acidity made it easy to drink.

Can you bring a dog to Famous Benny Gwangalli?
Turns out Famous Benny in Gwangalli is pet-friendly too. There was a dog guest there, which made me happy to see.
The roasted macadamias were nutty with a great texture too.
The poached egg was great to pop open too. With plenty of vegetables, it made for a perfect breakfast brunch.
I took a bite of the salmon, croissant, and poached egg all together haha,

and the crunchy onion chips were so tasty. I've been to plenty of brunch cafés, but this Gwangalli brunch spot Famous Benny stood out for having so many options — and the dish I finally settled on after much deliberation happened to be exactly to my taste, which made it even better!

After a very satisfying brunch, I went for another walk around Gwangalli, and there were so many cute shops and things to see. I get why foreigners love Gwangalli so much. I'll wrap up this review here, hoping to visit again in autumn.
