A 20-piece omegi-tteok gift box for 22,000 won at Suragan Tteokbang

On the last day of my Jeju trip I wanted to bring home at least one box of Jeju omegi-tteok (glutinous rice cake), so I stopped by Suragan Tteokbang (수라간떡방), a Jeju rice cake shop, and picked up a gift-wrapped box! It's 20 pieces for 22,000 won, and you can choose a mix of flavors, so it made for a decent gift for family or friends :)

What I picked was the 20-piece omegi-tteok gift box. At 22,000 won for 20 pieces, it wasn't a big financial burden, so it seemed good for buying a bunch to hand out to family or friends haha. What I especially liked was that you're not stuck with just one flavor — you can mix and match several.

The five omegi-tteok flavors picked at Suragan Tteokbang

The types of rice cake I picked were the following 5:

  • Tangerine omegi-tteok
  • Soybean powder omegi-tteok
  • Nut omegi-tteok
  • Black sesame omegi-tteok
  • Red bean omegi-tteok

Even though they're all omegi-tteok, the flavors vary so much that it was fun trying one after another haha.

How sweet is it? Generous red bean filling, mild taste

I especially liked that the red bean filling inside was generous! Rice cakes that are too sweet get tiring after just a few pieces, but these were overall not very sweet, so they were easy to eat without feeling weighed down 😊

I usually can't eat much of overly sweet rice cakes, but these were pleasantly plain while still letting the sweetness of the red bean come through, so I enjoyed them 🤎 And since they're made without chemical additives, I felt good choosing them as a gift.

The chewy rice cake packed with plenty of red bean paste went really well with coffee too, and switching between tangerine, then black sesame, then nut, then red bean lol — going back and forth between flavors meant I never got tired of them 😁

Why Suragan Tteokbang's omegi-tteok works as a Jeju souvenir

I ordered it gift-wrapped, and the packaging was neat too, so it made for a solid souvenir to bring back from my Jeju trip. With 20 pieces, the quantity was generous and easy to share with several people without feeling stingy! Best of all, since you can mix different flavors, whoever receives it can try one of each depending on their taste 😊
