Jeju Dongmun Market oranda shop: 11 donut flavors as a plane snack

Whenever a Jeju trip winds down, I always end up stopping by Dongmun Market. I eat a lot of delicious food while I'm in Jeju, but before heading home I also like to pick out a Jeju Dongmun Market souvenir or two for family and friends. This time, while wandering the market, I spotted a place that looked perfect for snacks to bring home — Cheongchuni Oranda 🌟

Where is Cheongchuni Oranda in Dongmun Market, and where do you park?

Cheongchuni Oranda Dongmun Market Main Branch Tapdong (청춘이오란다 동문시장본점 탑동) sits on the 1st floor at 6-8 Dongmun-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju, right inside Dongmun Market, so it's easy to stop by while browsing the market. It's open daily from 09:00 to 20:00 with no regular days off.

It's easiest to find through Dongmun Market's Gate 2 or Gate 9, and the surrounding area is lined with all kinds of food stalls and shops, making it a great route for snacks or gifts during a Jeju trip. There's no parking at the shop itself, so if you're driving, use the Dongmun Market public parking lot 🚗

Soft handmade oranda made with rice syrup

What stands out about Cheongchuni Oranda is that everything is made in-house. When you hear "handmade oranda," you'd usually picture the traditional, rock-hard version — but the oranda here isn't hard at all, it's soft. They use rice syrup so it doesn't set stiff, which made me curious how different the texture would actually be. Tasting it, it really does chew much softer than the oranda most of us picture 👍

Yuzu oranda, nut oranda and four kinds of gwajul

At first, I think most people imagine oranda as pretty much all the same shape. I used to think of it as just a hard, sweet traditional cookie too, but Cheongchuni Oranda actually has quite a variety. The main lineup includes yuzu oranda and nut oranda, plus several kinds of gwajul (crispy rice snacks) 🍊

The yuzu oranda has a yuzu aroma you can taste, with a texture that's both crispy and moist. The nut oranda is packed with nuts, so it's a good pick if you like nutty flavors. On top of that, there's white rice gwajul, brown rice gwajul, buckwheat gwajul, and steamed rice gwajul, so you can choose based on your taste 🌾

Rather than picking just one flavor, mixing several kinds seemed like a good idea for giving out to people with different tastes. The shop has individually wrapped gift items as well as large square-shaped oranda. These bigger ones are better suited to snacking at home or sharing with family rather than handing out one by one 🤩 If a full gift set feels like too much to commit to right away, trying one of these first and deciding afterward is also a solid approach.

Cheongchuni Oranda has a tasting corner where you can try the different oranda and gwajul yourself. Sometimes reading a description alone doesn't give you a real sense of the flavor, and with this many options it can be hard to know what to pick at first — tasting makes the decision much easier. After trying a few, I thought they'd go really well with coffee too 😝 If you assume everything called "oranda" tastes about the same just from the name, you might be surprised by how different they actually taste once you try them.

And what stuck with me most this time was this donut-shaped oranda 🍩 In photos it genuinely looks like an actual donut. Round with a hole in the middle, each one topped with a different color and topping — it looks completely different from regular oranda.

It was my last day in Jeju, and even after eating my fill right up until boarding, this oranda kept crossing my mind ⁉️ I was already stuffed from black pork, but the flavors from the tasting corner kept coming back to me. In the end, I pulled one out to eat on the plane too... It's funny how some snacks stick with you long after you've eaten them. For me, on this Jeju trip, that snack was Cheongchuni Oranda ❤️🔥
