Not long ago I made my first visit to Jipbul Taebaek's Ingye branch in Ingye-dong, and I was completely blown away by the tender meat with that subtle straw-fire smoke aroma! So I looked into it right away, and guess what — the flagship branch turned out to be right in Dongtan, near my house?! As a meat lover, there was no way I could skip visiting the original branch, haha 😋

My husband and I happened to be in the mood for a cozy date with good meat and a glass of soju, so we headed to Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch on the weekend! We were already fully satisfied at the Ingye branch, so I went in wondering just how much better the flagship location could be — here's my honest review 🌿

From the outside, Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch has that classic, sophisticated wood-tone feel unique to straw-fire grill specialists, and my expectations were already rising just from the entrance. The stylish lighting by the entrance and the neat signage catch your eye even in passing — you'd think, "Oh, this place must be really good!" 📸

Stepping inside, the interior is just as upscale and clean as the exterior. BBQ restaurants usually feel stuffy from smoke or a bit greasy, but Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch was pure comfort!

The soft, warm lighting really elevates the mood, and photos come out beautifully too. Best of all, the tables are spaced generously apart, which made it perfect for chatting comfortably with my husband over dinner. It's a polished space that works just as well as a Dongtan date spot for couples as it does for a family meal with kids or a small gathering!

Not long after ordering, meat pre-grilled to a golden brown over straw fire arrived at the table. The moment it hit the grill, that distinctive smoky straw-fire aroma spread, and my mouth was watering before I even took a bite!

The key to the marinated taebaek straw-fire grilled beef was a marinade that wasn't overly sweet but hit just the right note of umami. The marinade soaked all the way through the meat, blending harmoniously with the straw-fire aroma so it never got old — I just kept eating! Pairing it with the sauces made the flavor even richer, and my husband, after one bite, said, "The Ingye branch was good, but I'm glad we came to the flagship," haha

What I liked just as much as the main meat was the neatly presented side dishes. The fresh salad served alongside had a lively, crisp texture that cut right through the richness of the meat! Thanks to the dressing, alternating between a bite of meat and a bite of salad meant I could enjoy the whole meal without ever getting tired of it.

Parking is available right in front of the restaurant, and the nearby Yeongcheon-dong public parking lot can also be used. 📌
