Ansan bakery café: lemon Americano, butter pretzel at Degree Gojan

Today I visited Degree, a large café in the new town of Gojan-dong, Ansan 😚 It's a café made by a team of professional roasters, baristas, and bakers together!! I was especially satisfied with both the coffee and the bakery here !!! 💕

Where is Degree Gojan Branch, and its hours and parking

Degree Gojan Branch is on the first floor of the Lotte Cinema building in Gojan-dong, Ansan, along the main street by 25-si Plaza. It's open every day from 07:00 to 24:00, year-round, and there's 2 hours of free parking per car at the back of the building.

First off, the exterior is white-toned and super clean, and the store itself is really huge !! Plus the floor-to-ceiling windows promise a great open view 😗

Not only is it open year-round, it opens early in the morning and stays open until late at night!! For office workers heading to work, and for those who need a space to talk late into the night, is there a better café than this 😍

Inside Degree Gojan Branch: group tables, window walls and a terrace

The inside of Degree Gojan Branch is done up in clean black and wood tones !! There are lots of seats and group tables too, so it seems like a great spot to come with a group ~~! Plus the open view meant it never felt stuffy, and it was so, so nice 🤎

There's also an outdoor terrace like this, so with the nice weather these days it seems like it'd be great to eat outside too !!👍🏻

When does fresh bread come out at Degree Gojan Branch?

Speaking of Degree, the bakery is also super famous!! They say every morning they hand-mix each loaf with French flour and Lescure butter. The bread that comes out changes by time of day.

• 8:00 — Croissant, pretzel, scone, baguette, jambon-beurre
• 9:00-10:00 — Brioche, choco escargot, 3 kinds of croissant, sausage pastry, green onion cream cheese bagel
• 11:00-12:00 — Salt bread, 2 kinds of ciabatta, baguette, kouign-amann (weekends), fig pain au, Dubai choco baguette
• 12:00-13:00 — Jambon-beurre, arugula cream cheese
• 15:00-16:00 — Croissant, brioche, choco escargot, baguette, salt bread, sausage pastry, jambon-beurre, arugula

(Actually I've already bought quite a lot of bread here with my own money before ✌🏻) But honestly the bread is soft and nutty, and I can vouch that whatever you get is delicious !! Highly recommend !!

As famous as the bakery is the coffee ~~ Degree Gojan Branch does its own specialty roasting, plus brewing, hand-drip coffee, and bean sales, and the list changes each week depending on what's freshly roasted!!

How the lemon Americano, watermelon juice, pain au hazelnut chocolat and butter pretzel tasted

I ordered the lemon Americano, watermelon juice (ttaengmoban), pain au hazelnut chocolat, and butter pretzel !! 🥰

First, with the lemon Americano, just from the name you might think, what kind of combo is that?! But the nuttiness of the coffee and the zing of the lemon went so well together !! 💛 Even people who don't really like coffee could probably enjoy this one~

The watermelon juice (ttaengmoban) really felt like it cooled me down to my core ~~!! It was so, so refreshing, and it seems like they bring in seasonal fruit each time — the sweetness wasn't artificial but from the fruit itself, so it was really delicious !! So, so good ..❤️😋

The pain au hazelnut chocolat was crisp outside and moist inside, with the sweet hazelnut chocolate adding richness ! The texture was great and soft, the kind of thing you keep reaching for 🫶🏻

The butter pretzel was such a good meeting of a mellow pretzel and rich butter ~~ eating it, I felt like I was in France.. (which just means it's incredibly delicious ㅠㅠ 🥹) How is the butter like this..it's really, really good butter! 🧈

Is Degree Gojan Branch worth a second visit?

The coffee itself was genuinely so delicious, and I could really feel how much care went into the beans and roasting !! Plus with such a wide, fresh bakery lineup, my satisfaction was rea~~~lly high 🥰 I'll definitely be back on my own dime !!! If you're looking for great coffee and bakery in Gojan-dong, I highly, highly recommend Degree!
