Samgyetang with a high chair for babies in Dongtan: Dream Samgyetang
In short
Dream Samgyetang is a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant on the second floor of a building near Dongtan Lotte Department Store and Dongtan Station in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On a chilly day the writer came in with a baby and ordered two bowls of the ₩18,000 Dream Samgyetang: the broth was rich and full-bodied, the chicken fell off the bone, and even a husband who dislikes chicken breast cleared his bowl. A high chair was ready at the table, the baby finished a bowl of finely chopped chicken, and the parents got to eat while the soup was still hot.

As the weather turned a bit chilly, I suddenly started craving a hot bowl of samgyetang. So I took my baby along and headed to Dream Samgyetang near Dongtan Lotte Department Store.

We ordered two bowls of samgyetang, and from the rich, deep broth to the tender chicken, it was way better than expected! Best of all, once I cut the chicken into small pieces for the baby, they opened their mouth like a little bird and cleaned the whole bowl haha. Here's my review of this Dongtan samgyetang spot that turned out to be easy to visit with a baby too.
Where is Dream Samgyetang? Near Dongtan Lotte Department Store and Dongtan Station
Dream Samgyetang is located near Dongtan Lotte Department Store, so it's a great choice when you're looking for somewhere to eat around Dongtan Station.

We went with our baby, and having a baby chair ready made things much easier than I expected. If you're near Dongtan Station or the department store craving something hot and Korean, it's a solid spot to stop by for a bowl of samgyetang. It also seemed like the kind of place that gets busy with nearby office workers at lunchtime.
Dream Samgyetang menu and prices

The samgyetang lineup was more varied than I expected. Starting with the basic Dream Samgyetang at ₩18,000, there were also health-boosting options like perilla, herbal, mugwort, and mung bean versions to pick from depending on your taste.

- Dream Samgyetang ₩18,000
- Spicy Abalone Samgyetang ₩20,000
- Perilla Samgyetang ₩19,000
- Herbal Samgyetang ₩20,000
- Mugwort Samgyetang ₩19,000
- Mung Bean Samgyetang ₩19,000

Besides samgyetang, there was a pretty wide range of dishes too, from Abalone Chicken Porridge (₩14,000) and Chicken Noodle Soup (₩11,000) to Jjimdak (₩35,000) and Seafood Pancake (₩19,000), covering everything from meals to drinking snacks.

At lunch there's also an ₩18,000 lunch special that comes with chicken noodle soup, a mini seafood pancake, and an ade, which looked like a good option for nearby office workers grabbing a meal.
Inside Dream Samgyetang: side dishes and ginseng wine

What struck me right from the start was how genuinely kind the staff were! When you're eating out with a baby, the food matters, but so does whether there's a baby chair and whether the staff make you feel at ease. On that front, we had a really comfortable meal.

The side dishes weren't overloaded either — just a clean, well-chosen set that paired nicely with the samgyetang.
They even gave us a glass of ginseng wine each.

The dinner menu was well put together too, with sets like seafood pancake, boneless chicken feet, and ginseng wine, or a combo with jjimdak and seafood pancake together — it seemed like a spot plenty of people would drop by for a drink in the evening as well.
Two bowls of samgyetang: how were the broth and the chicken?

Since a hot bowl of samgyetang was really the whole point that day, we ordered two. After a short wait it came out still bubbling in a stone pot, just the sight of it made me feel warmer!
What I liked best was the broth. Rather than a light, clear samgyetang broth, it had just the right amount of savory depth and richness. It wasn't too intense though, so I kept spooning it up.

The chicken was heartier than expected too, and the meat fell off the bone so easily I barely had to work at it with my chopsticks.

My husband, who normally isn't a fan of chicken breast, said it wasn't dry at all that day and ended up eating the whole breast.
Why Dream Samgyetang worked with a baby

I figured we'd just enjoy the meal ourselves since we brought the baby along, but the unexpected star of the day turned out to be the baby haha.

I cut the chicken into small pieces and gave it bit by bit, and the baby kept opening their mouth like a little bird. Take a bite, open up for more, take a bite, open up again haha. In the end they cleaned nearly a whole bowl of what I'd prepared — even we were surprised.

When your baby eats well during a meal out, it really boosts the parents' satisfaction, right? In the past, eating out with a baby often meant taking turns eating one at a time and losing track of the meal. This time, with the baby sitting in the chair and eating happily, we actually got to eat properly while it was still hot.

Above all, the samgyetang itself was just genuinely good. There are places that feel like health food but taste pretty average, but here the broth was rich and the chicken tender, so it's a place I want to go back to for the taste alone.

If it were near my place, I feel like I'd go every time the weather turns chilly!

If you're near Dongtan Lotte Department Store or Dongtan Station craving a hot bowl of soup and looking for a good samgyetang restaurant in Dongtan, I'd recommend Dream Samgyetang — it was a comfortable place to visit with a baby too.
