Squid fritters and seafood ramyeon in Yongin: Mr. Squid sashimi bar
In short
Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is an izakaya-style sashimi restaurant in the middle of Bojeong-dong cafe street in Yongin. Two of us ordered the flounder sekkoshi (thin bone-in slices) live fish set and ate our fill of assorted flounder, rockfish and salmon sashimi, squid fritters and refillable side dishes, though the seafood ramyeon that closed the meal tasted rather plain. Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is a date-friendly Bojeong-dong sashimi spot best finished with the spicy fish stew next time.

Where is Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch?
Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is a sashimi restaurant near the middle of the Bojeong-dong cafe street in Yongin. The fish tank out front is always kept spotless, and the grass laid out around it looked so pretty. The string lights add to the mood too, haha.

Whenever you visit, Bojeong-dong's cafe street gives off that same excitement and streetscape beauty, and Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch, this sashimi restaurant on Bojeong-dong's cafe street, has an interior sensibility that fits right in, haha.

A sashimi restaurant that feels like an izakaya
Sheer fabric hangs prettily from the ceiling inside, giving the space a dreamy feel — it's not your typical sashimi restaurant vibe, more like an izakaya plus sashimi restaurant, and I loved that. As soon as I walked in there was a cool breeze inside, which felt great, and the izakaya-style interior with its yellow lighting had so much atmosphere, haha. It's also a great spot for a date — Mr. Squid, a must-visit restaurant on Bojeong-dong's cafe street!!!

Is the flounder sekkoshi live fish set enough for two?
Mr. Squid, this Bojeong-dong sashimi restaurant, has all sorts of sashimi starting from the assorted platter, but I usually order a set menu. I love squid fritters, haha. Ordering sashimi comes with spicy stew included, but note that with the set menus you need to order the stew separately, haha.

So I ordered Set No. 0, the flounder sekkoshi live fish set, and it was plentiful for two people to eat, haha. It came out even more generous than I expected, and I was genuinely touched, haha. In this era of high prices, Mr. Squid, this Bojeong-dong sashimi restaurant, still keeps its portions generous... I love you~~

Are the side dishes and seaweed soup refillable?
The side dishes that came out were ones I love, along with warm seaweed soup, haha. The side dishes were refillable too, so I made sure to enjoy plenty of the corn salad, haha. The corn salad, delicious every time, and the fluffy steamed egg were so good.

What comes on the assorted sashimi platter?
The assorted platter comes with flounder, rockfish, and salmon, and there really was a wide variety of sashimi. A set menu that lets you taste so many different kinds of fish is love, haha.

How the flounder sekkoshi tastes and chews
That wasn't the end — the flounder sekkoshi (thin-sliced sashimi with bones) came out too, and all the fish was so fresh, with great texture. Freshness really is the lifeblood of sashimi 👍 The flounder's crunchy, chewy bite was fun, and the more you chewed it, the nuttier it tasted.
See it for yourself in the video — that plump, springy sashimi texture, haha. The knife work was sharp too, so the fish's structure stayed intact and it was so delicious. With Japanese-style dishes, freshness and knife skills really are everything, haha.

Squid fritters and the wrap vegetables
The squid fritters that come with the Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch set were so crispy and delicious. It's one of my favorite dishes, and squid fritters really do taste best at a sashimi restaurant, haha.

The vegetables were so fresh that wrapping sashimi in them was genuinely fun. Fresh sashimi with fresh vegetables — a fantastic combination! Is this what they call honey-sweet flavor? Haha.

Finishing with seafood ramyeon: what fell short
To finish, we had seafood ramyeon, but this one was a bit bland... Next time I'll go with the spicy stew instead, haha.
Overall, the interior was so pretty that it felt more like an izakaya than a sashimi restaurant, and with the cooler weather the sliding windows were opened wide, giving a nice sense of openness along with a gentle autumn breeze that I really liked, haha. If you're looking for a great spot on Bojeong-dong's cafe street, come visit Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch, this sashimi restaurant on Bojeong-dong's cafe street, and make some good memories with a bite of delicious, fresh sashimi~
