Toseong Station pork ribs with free steamed egg, Busan: Bueongi Maeul

In short

Bueongi Maeul is a pre-grilled pork ribs restaurant in Jung-gu, Busan, about 537m from Exit 1 of Toseong Station. Without ordering any alcohol, the writer had 800g of pork ribs, a small pork doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and three bowls of rice, and every table that orders ribs gets free gyeranjjim (steamed egg), which filled the table edge to edge. Because the ribs arrive pre-grilled they are easy to finish on the grill, and the seasoning is neither too sweet nor too salty, so Bueongi Maeul never feels heavy.

Today I'm back at a meat restaurant I visited once with my mom last year! The weather's gotten cooler lately and I was craving pork ribs, so I went back after a long time haha. This place is especially perfect for outdoor seating in the fall!

What side dishes come with the meal?

800g of pork ribs: pre-grilled and easy to cook

One mushroom and 800g of pork ribs arrived!

The great thing about Bueongi Maeul is that the meat comes pre-grilled once already! Grilling seasoned ribs usually takes a lot of work, but it's so nice that they come pre-cooked 🤭

Because of the seasoning, the ribs burn easily, so you have to flip them often ✨

Taking a bite! The seasoning is just right — not too sweet, not too salty. It's a flavor you can keep eating without getting tired of it haha. Is it just me, or was it tastier than when I came with my mom last year ..? 🫠

Pork doenjang jjigae (small) and bowls of rice

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) we ordered in the small size had way more than expected lol. Tasted exactly like the doenjang jjigae grandma used to make — right up my alley !! 🔫🔫

There's meat in it too haha, and fried tofu, so it's perfect ㅋ_ㅋ

We picked the meat off the bones down to the last bit haha. The meat right on the bone is the best part of ribs, right? 🤩🤩

Honest verdict on Bueongi Maeul

Bueongi Maeul was a pork ribs restaurant in Nampo-dong that's plenty satisfying even if you only go to eat, no drinking required. Coming pre-grilled means less work, and the seasoning is neither too sweet nor too salty, so I finished all 800g without getting tired of it. With so many side dishes and even a free steamed egg on top, the table felt like it might collapse under the weight, and now that fall has cooled things down, the outdoor seating is perfect too.
