Yeoksam gukbap restaurant with extra suyuk: Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap
In short
Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap (남도창평국밥) is a pork gukbap (rice-and-pork soup) and suyuk (boiled pork slices) restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Ordering the Changpyeong Market Gukbap Set for one plus an extra portion of suyuk put gukbap, suyuk and sundae (blood sausage) on one table, and the self-serve bar offered as much kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) and green onion kimchi as you want. As the evenings got chillier I started craving a hot bowl of gukbap, so I headed to Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap near Yeoksam Station!
Where is Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap and how do you get there from Yeoksam Station?
Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap is at 528 Nonhyeon-ro, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Yeoksam Station!
What the restaurant looks like from the street

Inside Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap

The tables were spaced comfortably apart and there were plenty of them, so it looked good for solo dining as well as groups. The big windows facing outside kept things from feeling cramped, and in the evening it seemed like a nice spot to eat and have a drink at a relaxed pace. It'd be great for office workers popping in for lunch too — the food came out fast, which is exactly what you want on a lunch break haha.

Menu prices and the 6-7pm suyuk and soju deal for 10,000 won

Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap runs a ₩10,000 deal from 6 to 7pm where you get suyuk (boiled pork slices) plus a bottle of soju together. It seemed like a pretty solid setup for anyone who wants suyuk and a drink alongside their gukbap dinner!! Great for a quick meal-and-drinks after work, or for catching up with a friend over gukbap, suyuk, and a bottle.

I was going to just order gukbap, but the menu had a set that comes with suyuk too, so this time I went with the Changpyeong Market Gukbap Set for one plus an added suyuk portion haha
The table setting and the self-serve side dish bar

Not long after ordering, the basic side dishes arrived — my favorites, kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and green onion kimchi, plus jeotgal (salted seafood), all came out together. What I really liked was the self-serve bar in the restaurant, so I could go grab more of whatever banchan I was running low on! I tend to eat plenty of kimchi and kkakdugi with gukbap, so being able to help myself to as much as I wanted meant I could eat freely without worrying about it haha. The green onion kimchi went really well with the gukbap too, so I kept coming back to it throughout the meal.
What comes with the Changpyeong Market Gukbap Set?

The Changpyeong Market Gukbap Set I ordered this time wasn't just plain gukbap — it also let me taste a little suyuk and sundae (blood sausage) alongside it. Getting to properly enjoy a bowl of gukbap while also sampling some suyuk and sundae felt like the biggest perk of the set. It was perfect for when you want to try several things but ordering each one separately feels like too much haha.
Pouring the rice into the hot broth, I thought, yeah, this is exactly why people eat gukbap haha. Eating the broth and rice together, dipping into the kkakdugi or green onion kimchi in between, and the bowl disappeared in no time~~ Best of all, ordering the set meant I got to try suyuk and sundae too, so I'd recommend it whenever you want a hearty, filling meal!

Extra suyuk with green onion kimchi: the best pairing on the table
The suyuk came in a single-portion size that felt easy to enjoy alongside the gukbap and share.! Eating the tender suyuk with jeotgal or kimchi had a different kind of charm from the gukbap itself.

Eating the suyuk together with green onion kimchi in particular was doubly delicious!! Gukbap alone can feel a bit lacking sometimes, but adding suyuk made the whole meal feel a lot more filling!

Dipping the innards from the gukbap into a sauce mixed with chojang (vinegared gochujang) and perilla seed powder was spicy and tangy and so good!! First time trying that combo and it was really great!

Is Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap worth a visit?

Overall, this was a good spot both for a light meal and for an evening drink — a hot gukbap set that lets you sample suyuk and sundae too, a self-serve bar for grabbing extra banchan freely, and the evening suyuk + soju deal for ₩10,000. If you want to fill up with a solid bowl of gukbap or try suyuk and sundae as well, I'd recommend ordering the Changpyeong Market Gukbap Set! 🥣🥩✨
