Korean BBQ patio with park views in Magok, Seoul: Chadol Grill

In short

Chadol Grill Magok is a Korean BBQ restaurant on the ground floor of GMG Tower near Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul, with open-air patio seats that face a small inner park rather than the road. The order was aged beef brisket for two (36,000 won) plus two à la carte dishes, avocado yukhoe with truffle (19,000 won) and perilla oil buckwheat noodles (8,000 won), and the special charcoal grill never flared up, leaving only smoky aroma on the meat. With no traffic fumes and the doors thrown wide open to the park at sunset, Chadol Grill Magok works well for both a team dinner and a date.

I visited a Magok Station restaurant that's perfect for this kind of cool weather. They have all sorts of combo menus — brisket-yukhoe wraps, brisket-scallop wraps, you name it — so you can order to your taste. It's right next to Seoul Botanic Park, so it works great as a date spot or a group dinner place! Here's my honest review of Chadol Grill Magok, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Magok.

Patio seats facing a park, not the road, near Magok Station

Chadol Grill Magok isn't on the road side — it faces a small inner park instead. Turns out this whole line is full of open-air restaurants. Absolutely perfect for weather like this!

Sunset sky between buildings with a bouquet of gifted flowers

When we walked out after eating, the sky between the buildings was gorgeous. I had flowers with me from a birthday gift, and shooting them against the sunset was pure art.

Inside Chadol Grill Magok

The weather's been so nice they had the doors wide open. The whole place felt like an outdoor table.

Reserved window seat overlooking the park

Since I'd made a reservation, they gave us a window seat — and since the front faced the park instead of the road, it was cleaner and had an even better atmosphere.

What's on the Chadol Grill Magok menu?

Wrapping yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) in brisket has been a trend for a while now, and they've got so many combos — asparagus wraps, wasabi rice wraps — I had a hard time deciding what to order.

The side dishes that come with the meal

Basic side dishes: baek-kimchi, pa-kimchi, and myeongi-namul

A solid basic spread for eating with meat — mostly things that cut through the richness, like baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), and myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaves).

Aged beef brisket for two, 36,000 won, with pure charcoal aroma

We ordered aged brisket for two (₩36,000), avocado yukhoe with truffle (₩19,000), and perilla oil buckwheat noodles (₩8,000).

Thick-cut aged brisket for two servings

The aged brisket for two arrived, and it was cut noticeably thicker than the brisket I was used to. Apparently this thickness is exactly what brings out brisket's crisp, springy texture.

Brisket set on the specially made grill

Brisket is a fatty cut, so it's usually grilled on a hot stone plate, but here they use a specially made grill that prevents flare-ups. Brisket with full charcoal aroma and no burning? Now that got me excited.

The heat was just right, so nothing burned. Grilled on both sides, the fat glistened and ran — and with the extra thickness, the savory flavor exploded even more.

Avocado yukhoe topped with truffle oil

The yukhoe wrap set comes with regular yukhoe, but I was curious about the avocado version, so I ordered the brisket and yukhoe separately as à la carte items to wrap myself.

The creaminess of the avocado paired really well with the yukhoe, and with truffle oil on top, the aroma was incredible too. Wrapped in well-grilled brisket, the flavor just exploded.

Perilla oil buckwheat noodles, 8,000 won, as a side

My friend loves perilla oil buckwheat noodles, so we ordered it right away.

They mix it well tableside, and the perilla oil aroma just wafts up. Loaded with roasted seaweed flakes and a special sauce, it had that sweet-and-salty appeal.

It went great with the brisket, and even better eaten together with the yukhoe. Highly recommend it as a side!

Outdoor table atmosphere facing the park after sunset

By the time we finished eating it had gotten dark, and the atmosphere was even better. We finished everything we ordered and were completely stuffed. Really had a great meal 😄😄😄

Is Chadol Grill Magok right for a team dinner or a date?

Having the park right out front was a genius move. It had a bit of a Yeonnam-dong vibe, and not having to deal with exhaust fumes or smoke was truly great. The combo of charcoal-scented brisket with yukhoe and buckwheat noodles is really something — this is a place where you can properly experience what makes brisket great. There are a lot of offices nearby and Seoul Botanic Park is right there too, so I'd recommend it for a group dinner or a date. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Magok Station, definitely stop by Chadol Grill Magok.
