It's been hot lately and I had no appetite, so I was looking for somewhere to eat something hearty and ended up at Shabu20 Bokhyeon branch, which people often mention as a place to eat near EXCO in Daegu! Coincidentally it was raining steadily the day I visited, and rain + shabu-shabu was such a perfect combo. Piling vegetables and meat into hot broth is truly the best ㅜ_ㅜ. When I got to the restaurant, I noticed Shabu20's model was Won Bin. Oh! And parking was plentiful since there's space in front of and behind the restaurant.

What is Shabu20 like on a weekday lunch?
Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch was busy even at weekday lunch. Still, the restaurant is on the larger side, so even with a lot of people it was easy to move around and get food! I saw a lot of families eating together that day. Since it's a well-known place to eat near EXCO in Daegu, seeing it packed even at lunchtime just made me more excited.

Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon prices: weekday lunch 22,900 won
We ordered the weekday lunch, which is ₩22,900 per person! We also changed the broth to sukiyaki, which added ₩1,000.
- Weekday lunch: ₩22,900
- Weekday dinner: ₩26,900
- Weekend/holiday: ₩26,900
- Elementary school students: ₩13,900
- Preschool children: ₩5,900
Prices vary a bit depending on the time you visit, so it's worth keeping in mind! At this price you get unlimited shabu-shabu plus meat, vegetables, and Vietnamese rolls as side dishes too — such good value, right ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

What is on the self-bar, from vegetables to Vietnamese rolls?
Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch's self-bar had a wide variety of ingredients to add to the shabu-shabu! From vegetables to mushrooms, fish cakes, and dumplings, there were so many options it was fun to pick out what I wanted one by one. There were even ingredients for Vietnamese spring rolls, so I got to enjoy one of my favorite dishes after a long time! Since shabu-shabu involves so many vegetables, somehow it felt a little less guilty to eat as much as I wanted, even at a buffet ㅋㅋㅋ

The meat corner at Shabu20
This is Shabu20's meat corner! They had everything from premium beef to pork, so you could take as much meat as you wanted! And honestly, that day... I ate meat until I was completely stuffed... I lost count of how many times I went back and forth... hehe 🤤

Dakgangjeong fried chicken and draft beer
And why is Shabu20's fried chicken so delicious...? The draft beer is unlimited too, so having fried chicken with beer is basically chimaek (chicken and beer), right ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Shabu20's fried chicken is so good, please make sure to have plenty ㅠㅠ!

I was rushing back and forth, back and forth... at all-you-can-eat places, I always get busy grabbing ingredients so I can eat quickly. But watching the table gradually fill up with everything I picked out made me feel oddly proud.

The recommended broth combo: sukiyaki plus spicy
The staff recommended a broth combo, and it was truly spot on. Sukiyaki + spicy broth, highly highly recommend ㅋㅋㅋ Eating the sukiyaki and spicy broths half and half meant I never got tired of it — it was just right!
And the great thing about shabu-shabu is that the meat cooks so quickly, right? Dip it briefly into the broth, swirl it around, and it's ready to eat almost instantly. Waiting for meat to cook when you're starving is really hard, but with shabu-shabu there's no need to worry about that ㅠㅠ Maybe because it was raining, it tasted even more delicious...

Finishing with kalguksu noodles in the spicy broth
I was so full I felt like I might burst.. but there was one thing I couldn't give up.. kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)... We finished off by adding kalguksu noodles into the broth after we'd fished out most of the meat. Eating kalguksu in the spicy broth was truly the best, that sharp, spicy flavor ㅠㅠㅠ Even after saying I was full, I still scraped the bowl clean... You've got to have kalguksu after shabu-shabu.. ㅠ

Takeaway cups and how to pay at Shabu20
On my way out I noticed they even had separate takeaway cups! And when paying, it looked like Daegu-ro Pay was accepted too! I was so incredibly full that day that I kept saying "I'm so full" all the way home..
From shabu-shabu to meat, Vietnamese rolls, and kalguksu~! Shabu20 Bokhyeon branch, a satisfying place to eat near EXCO in Daegu where you can eat as much as you want. I especially loved that the meat and fresh vegetables were unlimited so there was no need to worry about portions, and with so many varied side dishes, it seems like a great spot to visit with a group where everyone can pick what they like. I'll definitely be going back!
