Bossam restaurant in Sindorim, Seoul: kalguksu set, third visit

In short

Sonjeong Bossam Sindorim Branch is a Korean restaurant near Sindorim Station in Guro, Seoul serving gabrisal bossam (boiled pork belly wrap) with a noodle set. On a third visit after work, the writer and her husband ordered the Sonjeong Bossam 2-person set for 42,000 won and picked kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) instead of their usual makguksu. The tender bossam, bossam kimchi and broth that was already flavorful before adding seasoning made for a dinner that met every expectation.

A bossam spot Sindorim locals keep coming back to

Hi everyone, this is Hamlee. 🥬✨

My husband and I agreed to meet near Sindorim Station for dinner after work, and there wasn't a shred of hesitation about where to go — Sonjeong Bossam Sindorim Branch!

This is actually already my third visit, so it's a true regular spot for me now! The first time I came here with friends for a gathering, everyone was so blown away by the moist meat with zero gamey smell and the deeply savory kimchi that we all clapped in amazement ㅠ0ㅠ

Ever since then, this place is the first thing that comes to mind whenever I crave bossam (boiled pork belly wrap) — it's basically my go-to Sindorim restaurant. I really wanted my husband to taste this level of skill too, so we made it our weekday after-work date spot!

This place is so popular by word of mouth among locals and office workers that on Friday evenings or weekend peak hours there's usually a long wait! My husband and I rushed over right after work on a weekday, so luckily we got seated without waiting at all. If you're planning a weekend or Friday visit, I'd recommend going a bit early to avoid peak hours!

Interior mood and table-order system

Table seating inside Sonjeong Bossam Sindorim Branch

Overall it's not noisy and it's easy to have a comfortable conversation, which made it great for a relaxed dinner with my husband after work! It's also perfectly suited for small gatherings with friends, like last time.

Apron provided at the table

They also provide aprons, so you can eat worry-free even if you're wearing white that day haha ㅎ0ㅎ

And every table has a tablet-style table-order system installed.

During busy hours you don't need to flag down staff — you can carefully check the menu photos and set compositions on screen and order with just a few taps, right at your seat!

What's in the Sonjeong Bossam 2-person set (₩42,000)

Looking at Sonjeong Bossam's menu, they have a solid, value-packed set lineup! What we ordered was the Sonjeong Bossam 2-person set (₩42,000).

Doesn't the seafood look so fresh!

I took a shot of it together with the bossam that came out next haha

Kalguksu instead of makguksu — how was the choice?

Actually, every time I've visited before, I always went with the tangy-sweet jaengban makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles on a tray) for my set. But this time I was craving soup, so I tried kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) for the first time — and it's honestly a kalguksu specialist restaurant too....

First off, the ingredients are so fresh

I actually tasted the broth before adding the spicy seasoning, and it was already complete on its own ㅠ0ㅠ

Kalguksu noodles and the hourglass timer

They told us that once the broth boils, you add the noodles, flip the hourglass timer, and then eat once it runs out haha ㅎ0ㅎ

The star of the show: gabrisal bossam and radish kimchi

And here's the main event, the bossam that arrived together..!

Glossy, tender gabrisal bossam pork

Can you see how glossy and tender the meat is ㅠ0ㅠ The radish kimchi is sweet and so delicious too....

Bossam kimchi filling and radish kimchi

The kimchi filling is so tasty too, and wrapped together with the cabbage leaf... it's absolutely the best ㅠ0ㅠ

I tried the kalguksu once the hourglass timer ran out

And honestly... it was the kind of taste that makes you think of soju. ㅠ0ㅠ

The finished bowl of kalguksu

Oh, and if you write a Naver review you can get fried mandu (dumplings) too, so I recommend it haha ㅎ0ㅎ

One-line review

A place where the tender boiled pork and its perfectly matched bossam kimchi shine, alongside a kalguksu set that soothes you from the inside out.

No matter when you visit, the consistent flavor and neat table setting fill 100% of your expectations! Whether you need a solid dinner after work or a comfortable spot to share a drink with people you care about, if you're looking for a great restaurant near Sindorim Station, I highly recommend stopping by Sonjeong Bossam Sindorim Branch!
