In short

Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch is a jumulleok (marinated stir-fried meat) restaurant that has been running near Pyeongtaek Station for 50 years. The writer ordered the soy jumulleok combo with bibim naengmyeon (10,000 won), the gochujang jumulleok solo set (10,000 won), and a bowl of mul naengmyeon (6,000 won), plus homemade sikhye, tasting both jumulleok flavors and both cold noodle styles in one sitting. I heard there was a true local restaurant near Pyeongtaek Station that's been running for 50 years, so I had to check it out. Here's my review of lunch at [Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch], a lunch spot near Pyeongtaek Station.

Pyeongtaek Jumulleok's lunch solo set: composition and price

There was a banner for the solo lunch set, so I figured I had to try it.

  • Composition: pork jumulleok + hangover soup + rice + 4 side dishes
  • Price: just 10,000 won
  • Lunch special hours: 11am to 2pm
  • Limited to 50 bowls a day

Hours and parking info

Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch is open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, closed every Sunday.

There's no dedicated parking, so I parked at the Pyeongtaek-dong public parking lot. After 90 minutes of free parking, it was about a 4-minute walk. It was close by, and the sign spelling out 평 택 주 물 럭 (Pyeongtaek Jumulleok) in plain letters made it super easy to find!

What's the interior like?

Inside, Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch has clean tables and a kiosk, so ordering was easy. Given the 50-year-old exterior, I was surprised how clean the interior was, and that there was even a kiosk. The seats were spacious and nice too!

They've even appeared on TV programs like KBS's 6 O'clock My Hometown and MBC's Live Tonight.

They've won the Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation restaurant award for 5 years straight from 2022–2026, and were also selected as a Hundred-Year Store — I thought that was really impressive.

Another thing that surprised me: they had a receipt review event, and the prizes weren't just plain drinks — there was a whole range of options like bibimbap, rice balls, fried shrimp, fried mandu, fried potatoes, and sotteok sotteok (rice cake and sausage skewers). My oldest, who's in kindergarten, would have loved coming along.

What we ordered, and the homemade sikhye

We ordered the soy jumulleok combo (bibim naengmyeon) for 10,000 won, the gochujang jumulleok solo set for 10,000 won, and mul naengmyeon for 6,000 won — so we got to try both mul (cold noodle soup) and bibim (spicy mixed cold noodles), both soy and gochujang jumulleok, and rice, all at great value. While browsing the menu, I spotted homemade sikhye (sweet rice punch) and ordered that too.

You could help yourself to kimchi as a side dish. The sikhye wasn't too sweet and tasted great — I want to buy some for my oldest kid.

Gochujang jumulleok solo set

The gochujang jumulleok solo set (10,000 won) came with generous side dishes and a hearty portion of meat. It wasn't too salty — tasted exactly like home cooking. This is a dish where guys could easily finish two bowls of rice! Since the menu photo showed it on a tray, I worried the portion might be small, so I ordered the naengmyeon separately too — but the portion turned out to be huge.

Hangover soup served with the solo set

Full of smoky wok-fire flavor and slightly spicy — total rice thief! Then I'd cleanse my palate with the mild hangover soup. The dishes complemented each other so well, it was delicious.

Soy jumulleok combo (bibim naengmyeon)

Soy jumulleok combo bibim naengmyeon served with cold broth

First off, they served the bibim naengmyeon with cold broth on the side, so I could enjoy it mixed as is or pour in the broth depending on my taste.

A spread of soy jumulleok and bibim naengmyeon
Soy jumulleok piled on top of bibim naengmyeon

The soy jumulleok had that perfect sweet-and-salty flavor, and it worked so well wrapped up with the bibim naengmyeon. Since the solo set came with rice, I'd put a spoonful of rice with soy jumulleok and top it with the cucumber salad — wow!!! Such a delicious combo.

6,000 won mul naengmyeon, no vinegar or mustard needed

I ordered the mul naengmyeon (6,000 won) because reviews were so good. Many reviews said it was delicious even without vinegar or mustard, and it's true — the broth had that ox bone base, tasting like the hot broth at a milmyeon place, so I ate it just as it was, without any vinegar or mustard, and it was fantastic. 6,000 won is unbelievable for this!

After eating

That was my review of lunch at Pyeongtaek Jumulleok, a true local restaurant near Pyeongtaek Station with 50 years of history. The value for money was honestly unbelievable and it tasted so good I kept gasping while eating! If you're looking for a lunch spot near Pyeongtaek Station, this is a must-visit~

(The owner is so kind! On the way to the parking lot after lunch, I thought — there's clearly a reason this place has been running for 50 years~~~)
