Family dinner at a 1973 Korean restaurant near Pyeongtaek Station
In short
Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch is a Korean restaurant in an alley near Pyeongtaek Station in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, running since 1973 and designated a Baeknyeon Gage (100-year store). The writer ate gochujang jumulleok and bibim naengmyeon in the Maesil room, refilled the sweet potato stem side dish twice, and added wide glass noodles. Pyeongtaek Jumulleok is recommended for saucy, lightly spicy jumulleok with plenty of side dishes.

How to get to Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch

I was craving jumulleok (hand-seasoned marinated meat cooked in its sauce) with that thick, clingy sauce that makes it so appealing~ It's such a rice thief, you know (the kind of dish that keeps you reaching for more rice). So I went to Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch (평택주물럭 평택역점).
Follow the alley in and you'll find Pyeongtaek Jumulleok Pyeongtaek Station Branch, where you can feel 50 years of tradition — it started in 1973, has been designated a Baeknyeon Gage (100-year store), and the years really show. It's near Pyeongtaek Station, so I parked at the public parking lot and it was a decent location to find.
The Maesil room and Guk room with old-school charm

Step inside and it's a place where the distinctive feel of an old-school eatery, the passing of the years, comes through exactly as it is.

The room we were shown to was the Maesil room, which is a room you enter with your shoes on.

Next to it was the Guk room. There's a range of tables, from 4-seaters to 6- and 8-seaters, so it would work well for groups or a family dinner too, right~?

Gochujang jumulleok and the solo-diner lunch set

For soups there were galbitang (beef short rib soup), haejang-guk (hangover soup), yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), miyeok-guk (seaweed soup), mu-guk (radish soup), doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and janchi-guksu (warm noodle soup). Today this lucky girl put in an order for the best-seller that's popular with the MZ generation (millennials and Gen Z): the gochujang jumulleok (jumulleok in red chili paste sauce)~

As a lunch special, from 11 to 2 and limited to 50 servings, you can get the Pyeongtaek Jumul solo-diner set meal for just ₩10,000. It's pork jumulleok + haejang-guk + a bowl of rice + 4 side dishes, so there's a hearty one-meal option even if you go alone.
Beyond jumulleok — oh, right! — here you can also try grade 1++ hanwoo (Korean beef) galbi bonsal (rib meat), anchangsal (skirt steak), hanwoo sirloin, and Dodram grade 1 samgyeopsal (pork belly).
Sweet potato stems refilled twice, and the gochujang jumulleok

Once you order, the side dishes and everything get set out right away.

The basic side dishes were varied, from saeu-jang (soy-marinated shrimp) to ssam greens (leaves for wrapping), seasoned bean sprouts and baek-kimchi (white kimchi). I tried a bite of each before the main came out, and they were all really good haha I especially love sweet potato stems, and these were crunchy and well seasoned — totally this lucky girl's kind of flavor!! Not a secret that I refilled them twice in total haha The saeu-jang was big, temptingly salty and delicious too.

Ta-da~~ The gochujang jumulleok! The ju~mulleok~~ that the MZ generation supposedly loves

It's a slightly spicy taste from the special sauce they make fresh every day!

But I had my big sweet-and-salty jumeok-bap (rice ball)~ It was so big haha it felt almost like eating a whole bowl of rice!!

If it felt a little spicy, wrapping it in lettuce mellowed out the heat so it tasted even better! The meat is handon (Korean-raised pork), so it's thick~ tender yet soft~

Adding the wide dangmyeon (sweet potato glass noodles) partway through made it even more enjoyable. I do love glass noodles, you know haha

Bibim naengmyeon ordered for Mom
It would have been a shame to have only the gochujang jumulleok, so I put in an order for bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for Mom!

The noodles were chewy and the sauce had a lively savory kick, so we enjoyed a delicious meal the whole way through.

A 50-year-old eatery worth a visit — I recommend it as a Pyeongtaek old-school restaurant~
