I visited Seoreojeong (설어정), a spot in Munji-dong, Daejeon, known for its delicious steak and curry udon.

I thought the little pet waiting area (?) beside the entrance was so funny, so I snapped a photo, haha.
Inside, the warm white-and-wood interior really stands out.
The restroom is indoors too, and I liked how neat and pretty it looked with its arched entrance and curtained inner door, haha.
Seoreojeong Menu

Seoreojeong brought out its menu in a booklet with a leather-like cover. I also noticed on the way out that their review event generously gives you buckwheat soba and marinated tomatoes.

There are three kinds of steak on the menu, plus several set menus paired with salchisal steak.

The Steak and Mini Curry Udon We Ordered

Our 180g salchisal steak, 180g flat iron steak, and mini curry udon arrived.

Since we ordered the basic set meal, it came with rice, corn soup, kimchi, wasabi, steak sauce, and maesil-cha (plum tea). Salt and pepper were at the self-service bar by the entrance, so we brought some over. The steak is lightly seasoned already, but it was best with a little salt and pepper sprinkled over it alongside the sweet onions!
Flat Iron Steak with the Sinew Removed

The plump flat iron steak had its central sinew removed, so you could enjoy just the texture of the meat. Maybe because the sinew was removed, its usual deep aroma was milder and it was easy to eat.

Perhaps because it was cut once more through the middle, the flat iron steak was served closer to well-done.
Medium-Cooked Salchisal Steak
Here is the thick salchisal steak. Salchisal is always a dependable cut, and as a steak it was, of course, absolutely delicious.

Although the outside was beautifully seared until golden,

the inside was cooked perfectly medium, right? This salchisal steak was so tender and juicy.
Mini Curry Udon That We Even Mixed with Rice

This is the mini curry udon we added as a side.

There was a generous amount of beef curry over chewy udon noodles, so we mixed it all together, then even mixed rice into the leftover sauce. Its lightly spicy flavor was really delicious between bites of steak. I totally recommend this one!
The staff at Seoreojeong were kind, and the food was delicious too! I was not feeling my best that day, so I did not have alcohol, but wine, highballs, and beer are all reasonably priced and would be nice alongside the meal. It is a steak spot where you can eat lightly without feeling burdened, so I think it would make a great date course too, haha. Another delicious meal today ♥️
