Weekday lunch solo dining at counter seats, Goyang: Gyedan Ramen
In short
Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch is a tonkotsu ramen restaurant in Goyang's Bamlidan-gil area. Visiting on a weekday at 11:30am, the writer parked right in front of the shop and sat at the counter, ordering mild motsu ramen and rich gyedan ramen with tamago-bap, adding egg and chashu at ₩1,500 each. Parking is tight, but going before the lunch rush means no wait.

I went back to Gyedan Ramen, a Goyang ramen spot I've now visited three times 🍜 Ever since our first bite, both my husband and I agreed it was delicious, so it keeps coming to mind whenever we're craving something good in Bamlidan-gil 😋

For this Bamlidan-gil ramen trip, I ordered motsu ramen and my husband got gyedan ramen. There are lots of cafés and restaurants nearby too, so it's a good spot for a Bamlidan-gil date course, and it's convenient for anyone hunting for good food in Jeongbalsan-dong!

Is parking at Gyedan Ramen easy?
We parked in the space right in front of the shop. It's not exactly spacious and pulling in and out is a bit tricky, so we went early, around 11:30am on a weekday. We got a spot right away this time, but if you're worried about parking at Gyedan Ramen, I'd recommend arriving a bit before the lunch peak!
How long is the wait?

At 11:30am on a weekday, we walked straight in with no wait. But by the time we finished eating and left, the place was full. As you'd expect from a Goyang ramen spot people keep coming back to, seats fill up fast around lunchtime.
What's the vibe and how do you order?

Inside there are regular tables and counter seats, and we sat at the counter this time. It's a layout where eating a bowl solo doesn't feel awkward at all, so it seems like a good option for anyone looking for solo dining in Bamlidan-gil!

There was also a small wireless fan at each table, which turned out to be surprisingly handy while eating hot broth 😂

Ordering works by selecting your menu on the screen at your seat and prepaying with a card right there.

They even offer uncooked takeout?! Loved that, haha.

Extras like egg, chashu, and a bowl of rice can all be selected right on the screen, which was convenient.

The basic side dishes were kimchi and danmuji (pickled radish).
What did we order this time?

My husband ordered the gyedan ramen rich, and I went with the motsu ramen mild. We each added an extra egg, and I added extra chashu too, so we ended up with a really hearty spread 😆
Is the mild motsu ramen bland?

I usually eat mild, and even ordering the motsu ramen on the mild setting, it was still pretty salty for my taste. But it wasn't unpleasantly salty — it came with a deep, rich flavor alongside it, a good kind of salty. I guess Japanese food really is meant to be eaten salty, haha.

The chashu wasn't the super-thin, melt-in-your-mouth style — it's a bit thicker with some chew to it!

I got greedy and added extra chashu but ended up too full, so I handed it all over to my husband, haha. Chashu comes with 3 slices by default, and it's ₩1,500 for one more.

The pale broth was loaded with mushrooms and green onion, and the motsu (offal), soaked through with broth, was chewy and crispy and savory with zero gaminess — it was seriously so good?!?!
The noodle portion is also really generous, and there's bean sprouts tucked in underneath. Personally, this is a Goyang ramen spot I keep thinking about just because of the motsu ramen — you probably won't be able to stop at just one visit, haha.

If you like rich broth, give this a try next time you're looking for a good tonkotsu ramen restaurant.
How's the rich gyedan ramen?

My husband's gyedan ramen was ordered rich, and compared to the mild one I had, the broth was clearly thicker and saltier.
My husband, who loves a rich tonkotsu style, said the rich version was definitely more delicious.

The extra egg was ₩1,500, and we each added one — the yolk was just the right amount of runny, and it was great eaten together with the broth.
Do you have to order the tamago-bap too?

We also ordered a tamago-bap (egg rice), which came piled with yellow shredded egg on top of the rice, along with meat, seaweed, and green onion — it's savory even eaten on its own.
Adding a bit of the broth to the tamago-bap made a really great combination.

We ran low on broth partway through and asked for more, and since extra broth is free, we got it at no cost 👍
What happens if you add the spicy sauce?

My husband tried adding a bit of the red spicy sauce on the table while eating. He took a bite and — wow, the broth's flavor completely changed 😂

The rich broth turned into a spicy, fiery style. We're both not great with spicy food, so it felt quite hot to us 🔥 If you like spicy food, adding a medium amount might give you a nice karai-ramen style experience.
This was already our third visit, and we still left having eaten well — a Goyang ramen spot that keeps delivering. Whenever we're craving a rich, salty bowl of ramen among Bamlidan-gil restaurants, I think we'll keep coming back to Gyedan Ramen 🍜💛
