I visited BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch this day to pick up some delicious bread! It's about a 2-minute walk from Exit 1 of Yeongdeungpogu Office Station, so I got there quickly right after coming out of the station — super easy to find!!!

If you're visiting by car, you can use the nearby Dangsan Neighborhood Park public parking lot or the Yeongdeungpogu Office Station transfer parking lot. They're about ₩1,800 and ₩1,200 per hour respectively, so very affordable!

A spacious, bright interior
As soon as I walked in, I was surprised at how spacious the store was! Maybe because it was the weekend, there seemed to be a lot of families, friends, and groups visiting. The overall atmosphere was bright and comfortable, so some people were sitting alone studying or working on laptops. There were also large tables where a whole group could sit together in a circle, which looked perfect for chatting over bread and coffee after a gathering.

The spacing between seats wasn't cramped at all, and there were even high chairs, so I could see why so many families with kids come here! I came just to pick up bread but ended up genuinely enjoying looking around the store too haha.

So many kinds of bread, bread-lover's eyes went wide
As befits Yeongdeungpogu's representative bakery, the variety of bread was genuinely huge... From my favorites, egg tarts and financiers, to salt bread, baguettes, bagels, baked snacks, and cakes — there was so much.

Just looking at one side makes you want something, then you turn your head and see even more bread, so I genuinely couldn't decide what to pick hahaTT. There were also cream desserts and cakes in the refrigerated display case, which looked great for birthday cakes or dessert gifts. In the back, staff kept baking bread nonstop, and the smell of freshly baked bread spread through the whole store — so hard to resist.....

The day I resisted the salt bread lol
The basic salt bread looked amazing and smelled insane too.... At ₩2,900, it felt quite reasonable given today's bakery prices. I debated a hundred times whether to get the salt bread, but since I'd already picked so much this day, I barely held back lol. Next time I definitely want to try the basic salt bread and the Dubai chocolate salt bread too. There were also lots of gift-worthy baked snacks like financiers and egg tarts, which made it a great spot to pick up office snacks or a light dessert to carry.

BYWAY's signature wakppu salt bread

And then there's the store's signature, wakppu salt bread!!!! There were fruit flavors like fig, blueberry, and peach yogurt, and I picked the fresh peach yogurt wakppu salt bread this day. It's a salt bread packed with white peach and peach jam, and true to its name, it's a bread you crack the outside open with a crunch, apparently haha. It was also so cute wrapped delicately in a fruit net lolol.
The fresh peach yogurt wakppu salt bread is normally ₩8,500, but this day it was 12% off, so I got it for ₩7,500!!! Even the packaging felt special, so it seemed like a good option for a gift dessert too.
The menu and this day's basket, ₩17,300 total
I put in 1 egg tart + 2 financiers + 1 fresh peach yogurt wakppu salt bread, and the total came to ₩17,300!

It's not just bread — there was a good variety of drinks too. Iced americano is ₩4,000, café latte is ₩4,500, and besides coffee, there were also teas and ades prepared, so it seemed easy to pick according to your taste. With so many bakery items and spacious seating, it's a great place to enjoy bread and coffee in the store, or to quickly pick up via Naver order or takeout like I did.

What does the peach yogurt wakppu salt bread taste like?
Back home, I opened up the peach yogurt wakppu salt bread first since I was most curious about it! The outside had a crackly, crunchy texture, and the inside was packed with white peach and peach jam, tangy and sweet. Adding the sweet peach flavor to the salty, savory taste of the salt bread worked better together than I expected. There was also a refreshing yogurt taste, so even with cream inside, it wasn't too heavy. Being wrapped in a fruit net was cute, and the way you eat it was fun too — this seems like a signature menu worth trying at least once if it's your first time visiting BYWAY BAKERS!
Egg tart and financiers, reheated at home

I lightly reheated the egg tart and financiers at home.... wow, they were genuinely so good TT. The egg tart's filling was moist and super soft. A rich, sweet egg aroma came through strongly, but it wasn't heavy, and it paired really well with the crispy tart shell. Eating it warm made it taste even better, like it was just baked.

The financiers were also crisp on the outside and moist inside — the crispy-outside, chewy-inside thing itself.... I usually find desserts with too strong a butter smell a little overwhelming, but the butter aroma here was savory and just right, so I finished it in no time lol. With such a wide variety of bread and reasonable prices, this is a place I'd recommend for a Yeongdeungpogu bakery-hopping route! Next time I want to revisit and try the basic salt bread, bagels, and cake too.
