My husband and I wanted a date-night meal on the weekend, but the moment I woke up that morning I was suddenly craving Korean food!!! I think we'd had way too many burgers and pasta lately haha. Korean food has so many categories that I seriously agonized over what to get, but then decided today's the day for pot rice!! I searched around for somewhere good and came across Gome Mui in Munjeong. Looking at the menu, I couldn't believe you could get pot rice and tonkatsu together!??? Plus they have noodle dishes too — compared to places that only do pot rice, the variety felt so much richer, so we went right away!!

Terra Tower Building A basement parking, free for 1.5 hours
Since Gome Mui Songpa is inside Terra Tower Building A, you can park in the building's basement lot, and with the free 1.5-hour parking we could eat without rushing at all~! We drove, but since Terra Tower is very close to Munjeong Station, getting there by public transit would be easy too.
A packed dining room even on the weekend
We went on a Sunday... and I was genuinely shocked. Because of how the Munjeong area works, it's full of office workers, so the streets and restaurants are way busier on weekdays and pretty quiet on weekends, right? But the moment we walked in, we found ourselves scanning for an empty seat, lol, tearing up a little. Knowing Munjeong's usual pattern well, I assumed it'd be empty, but I was shocked at how many people were there!! Plenty of solo diners, couples on dates like us, and even families. Truly, a real restaurant worth its name doesn't care about weekday or weekend haha — that's the Munjeong Station hot-spot class!
The menu at Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong

Here's the menu at this Munjeong Terra Tower favorite. We actually picked our order in advance, because the menu is genuinely so varied!! For single pot rice dishes there's sea bream pot rice, salmon crumble pot rice, steak pot rice, perilla oil mushroom pot rice, abalone pot rice, eel pot rice — and there are tonkatsu set menus too!

And there are various set combos: one pot rice + tonkatsu set, udon + tonkatsu set, cold soba + shrimp tempura set, and more. With so many set combinations and menu items, this Munjeong Station pot rice restaurant is so appealing ❤️ Usually a pot rice place just sells pot rice, but a pot rice + tonkatsu combo is such an exciting pairing, right!!! As someone who loves both, my heart was racing the whole way there haha.

There's also a curry dish on its own, and you can add tonkatsu as a side, so keep that in mind :)
Perilla oil mushroom pot rice + tonkatsu, abalone pot rice + tonkatsu

My husband ordered the abalone pot rice + tonkatsu set, and I got the perilla oil mushroom pot rice + tonkatsu set! Both of us refused to give up tonkatsu, so we each chose it as a set with pot rice, hehe.
The abalone pot rice was seriously a work of art visually!!! And of course, freshly cooked pot rice smells different from the start~~ Gome Mui Munjeong uses rice malt (nuruk) in every dish for a healthier meal, and it's a Japanese-style premium pot rice blended from special-grade rice, they say. The rice flavor itself was on another level — a true Munjeong Station gem.
How to eat the pot rice and make sungnyung
You mix the rice and toppings evenly inside the pot, transfer it all to a bowl, then pour hot water into the pot and cover it to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea)~~

The side dishes: broth, minari sauce, seasoned fish roe
Whether it's perilla oil mushroom pot rice or abalone pot rice, the sides are the same: broth soup, minari seasoning sauce, soy-fermented pepper pickle, seasoned fish roe, and seaweed — and these sides were seriously incredible....!! You don't usually finish every single side dish when you eat out, right? There might be ones you're not into, but I genuinely licked everything clean here...haha. My husband said he hadn't seen me eat like that in a while... truly rice-thief-worthy sides ❤️

The perilla oil mushroom pot rice is eaten the same way, and pairing it with the various sides makes it even better >_< At first I only checked out the menu and thought, oh, this is interesting — but the pot rice, the tonkatsu, and even the side dishes were all so good that I left even more surprised and satisfied, a real gem in Munjeong's Terra Tower. I will absolutely come back — 2000% guaranteed, hehe.

The fact that I want to eat it again just from looking at the photos is... kind of serious, no?? haha. It's a clean, tidy Korean-style spread, great for a date, and there are bar-style counter seats too, so it's good for solo lunch near Munjeong Station! Families were even coming in, so that says it all~~

Loaded with shiitake mushrooms, lotus root, and white jelly mushroom, this Munjeong pot rice was so generous — I was already won over just by the visuals~~

And pairing that with tonkatsu?? I was floored, over and over, haha. This time we went with the pot rice + tonkatsu combo, but next time I want to try it with udon or curry!! A place where you can enjoy both Korean and Japanese food... and even the tonkatsu is delicious;;;

What's even more surprising is that mixing and matching with the various side dishes gives you a whole new flavor each time — I really felt the owner knows what they're doing when it comes to taste.

The minari seasoning sauce is soy-sauce based, but the fragrance of minari (water dropwort) lifts both the aroma and the flavor to another level. And the seasoned fish roe... I fell completely for it... Come to think of it, I don't think I'd ever had seasoned fish roe before?? That crunchy, poppy texture is addictive! None of the sides were too salty or too intense, which made them a perfect complement to the pot rice as a topping.
How was the abalone pot rice?
My husband's abalone pot rice had firm, chewy abalone with no fishy taste at all — just pure freshness. He said it got more savory and delicious the more he ate, and wanted a second bowl — I won't say whether that's a secret or not ^^
Ahh~~ why didn't I know about a pot rice place like this until now. We both genuinely love tonkatsu — it's practically our soul food — and eating it together with our favorite pot rice was pure happiness...haha. The tonkatsu was soft and juicy too, just sugoi through and through...❤️ Officially certifying Gome Mui as a Songpa Munjeong Station gem~~
Finishing with sungnyung and yakult
There's no better dessert than the sungnyung we'd made earlier, topped with seasoned fish roe~~~ Once we looked done eating, the staff brought us each a yakult as a little treat, hehe. Gome Mui Munjeong, a pot rice restaurant near Munjeong Station — go here whenever you want a hearty, delicious meal, whether it's a date or just craving something good...👍
