My partner and I were out on a weekend date and grabbed lunch a bit early before heading to a café. We got there around 1pm, and honestly there were way more people than I expected, haha. I originally just wanted a coffee and a rest, but the building's exterior had such a good vibe that we ended up going in — this is Something About Coffee, a café near Gangnam Station.
It's about a 5-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station exit 6, so it was easy to get to, and it's in the alley behind the Gangnam Station CGV, which made it convenient to stop by after our meal.
Three floors at Something About Coffee, each with its own mood
What I liked most about Something About Coffee was that the space was bigger than expected. All three floors, from 1st to 3rd, operate as the café, and each floor has a slightly different atmosphere. The first floor has huge windows, so the interior is visible from outside, and it naturally draws your eye in.
Going up to the second floor, the white-toned interior and chandelier gave it an even brighter, cleaner feel! And if you open the antique door, you step out onto an outdoor terrace with trees and potted plants scattered around — it felt like stepping into a garden in the middle of the city for a moment, haha.
There's also a terrace on the third floor, but when we visited it was posted that it might close for closing prep once its usage hours were over. If you're planning to visit, it's worth checking the timing.
How busy is Something About Coffee on a Sunday at 1pm?
We visited Something About Coffee around 1pm on a Sunday, and there were already quite a lot of customers inside. Still, since the space is spread across multiple floors, we were able to find a seat — there was a range of seating from 2-person tables to spots big enough for larger groups.
It seemed like a good spot for dates as well as meeting friends, and looking around, I noticed quite a few tables that had that blind-date kind of vibe, haha. I guess this kind of atmospheric space is popular for blind dates too.

Price-wise, it was about what you'd expect from a large café in a major Seoul commercial district these days, but there was a good variety of desserts, so it was fun picking what to order.
Our order came out shortly after. Wow, the visuals were amazing! It looked almost too pretty to eat, and I nearly just kept staring at it instead, haha.
Black sesame cream latte, 7,800 won
The black sesame cream latte had a nicely nutty flavor, and thanks to the cream on top, it had a bit of a different twist from a regular latte. Sipping it through the straw let me enjoy several layers at once, which was fun!
Peach fresh cream cake and egg cookie
The americano paired well with the desserts, and the peach cream cake, with its soft cream and fruit combo, went nicely with the coffee. I especially liked how generously the peach pieces were packed throughout the cake.
The egg cookie was bite-sized and easy to keep reaching for, haha. Crisp on the outside and moist inside like an egg tart — if you like egg tarts, you should definitely try this.
Why this Gangnam café draws such a crowd
Honestly, before visiting, I expected it to just be a pretty space. But once I was actually there, it didn't feel like just a photo spot.
There was fun in looking around at the interior while enjoying the coffee and desserts, and being able to use the terrace too meant satisfaction would probably be even higher on a nice weather day. Since it gets busy on weekends especially, if you want a quieter atmosphere, visiting a bit earlier or on a weekday might be worth considering.
Is Something About Coffee a good date café in Gangnam?
Having visited in person, I felt like this place covers the three things that matter when looking for a café near Gangnam Station — accessibility, space, and menu — pretty well.
Above all, being located between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station is a real plus, since it's convenient to stop by before or after a meal. It's good for couple dates, fine for grabbing dessert with friends, and worth considering if you're meeting up somewhere with a nice atmosphere in mind.
Just keep in mind that during busy times like weekend afternoons, it can be hard to grab the seat you want right away, haha. We also started out saying 'let's just have one coffee and go~' but ended up thoroughly enjoying the desserts too, haha.
If you want to enjoy a pretty space and sweet desserts together in Gangnam, this is worth a visit at least once! Next time, I'm hoping to grab a terrace seat on a nice weather day, haha.
