Hot soup in Songdo on a cloudy day: Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch
When it comes to eating in Songdo, Incheon, there are so many good restaurants and such a wide variety of menus. But this particular day was cloudy, and I really wanted hot soup with noodles. So I headed to Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch!
I tried the dak kalguksu, dak gomtang, and dumplings together. To cut to the conclusion, out of everything I ate that day, the self-made kalguksu noodles were what I liked most. The texture was great, and above all, the soup was really delicious.

The menu and prices are posted clearly out front, so you can take a quick look before going in!

A spacious hall with solo seats and phone chargers
Inside, the spacious hall under soft lighting felt open and airy, and I loved that there was a dedicated solo-dining corner off to one side! Right next to it were several chargers, which made it feel like the perfect spot for solo diners!
What is on the self-bar?
The self-bar has the tools you need — plates, ladles — plus spicy and mild dressed kimchi (geotjeori)! That's the signature at every Eonyang Dak Kalguksu branch! The spicy geotjeori!!!! It's seriously spicy!!! Haha

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch menu and prices
The menu includes dak kalguksu, dak gomtang, boiled pork (suyuk), soy-braised jjimdak, spicy jjimdak, chogye guksu (cold chicken noodles), and chewy dumplings!! Seeing it all today, I'm now curious about the chogye guksu too~

They say the self-made noodles need 15 minutes to cook!
The table comes set with plates, salt, pepper, cups, and a bone bowl~
Order details) Dak kalguksu (large) 12,000 Dak gomtang 11,000 Chewy dumplings 6,000

Our large dak kalguksu, dak gomtang, and chewy dumplings arrived! The dishes came out one by one, and just the aroma rising from the hot soup got my appetite going.

Extra-large chicken kalguksu, 12,000 won: how were the broth and noodles?
I started with the dak kalguksu. I took a spoonful of the broth first, and it had a deep, rich flavor.

At first sip it's clean yet deep, and once you eat the noodles alongside it, the broth soaks naturally into the noodles and each bite gets even more intense. It has that long-simmered kind of depth, so my spoon kept going back for more.

There's a whole giant chicken leg in there! It was a pretty big chicken leg~ You've got to dip it in the peppered salt for the full flavor!

I love perilla, so I added some perilla powder~ It gets even nuttier and cleaner-tasting~

Maybe because they're self-made kalguksu noodles, the texture was great. They weren't too soft or mushy — there was a nice chewiness, so the noodles really held their own alongside the broth. Personally, when it comes to kalguksu, the broth matters, but I care quite a bit about noodle texture too, and this time the noodles were especially memorable.
And the geotjeori pairs perfectly with these noodles soaked in that broth!!!
Dak gomtang (chicken soup), 11,000 won
Even though it uses the same chicken, the dak gomtang had a different feel from the dak kalguksu.
And again, that huge chicken leg visual~

Eaten with rice, it becomes a filling meal, and eating the chicken together with the broth gives you a clean yet warm flavor. If you're like me and love noodles but only feel like you've really eaten when there's rice, you'll probably like the dak gomtang too.
Chewy dumplings, 6,000 won

I can't leave out the dumplings we ordered alongside.

The dumplings had a striking chewy bite the moment you took a bite. The dumpling skin wasn't too soft or mushy — it had a springy texture when you chewed it, which made for a great mouthfeel.
A bite of kalguksu, then a dumpling, and you get a completely different texture from the noodles — really nice. After eating nothing but dak kalguksu for a while, adding dumplings in between kept the meal from feeling monotonous.

The dumpling skin was really chewy, which I loved, and the filling was tasty too, so it paired well with the kalguksu.
Which of the three dishes is worth ordering again?
I tried all three menu items, but after finishing everything, the one I kept thinking about was, of course, the dak kalguksu.
Especially as someone who loves noodles, the texture of the self-made noodles was quite satisfying, and the broth wasn't a flavor you finish after a spoonful or two — it was the kind you keep dipping into along with the noodles. On a day when I'm craving hot broth and chewy noodles in Songdo, I think I'd choose the dak kalguksu again. I think I'd order it again on my next visit too. So if you're looking for a good dak kalguksu spot in Songdo, Incheon, Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is one I'd think of.
