White almond mocha latte & tofu pudding near Gangmun Beach: Coffee

I was wandering around Gangmun Beach and slowly started craving coffee, so I stopped by Coffee Dripper. Apparently the shop, which has been hand-drip brewing coffee with beans roasted in Gyodong, Gangneung for over 10 years, got a renewal this past May.

It's tucked inside Chodang Tofu Village and close to Gangmun Beach, so it looks really accessible for anyone traveling around Gangneung.

Location and parking

It's a 10-minute walk from Gangmun Beach, inside Chodang Tofu Village, and not far from Gangneung Station either. Inside the dessert showcase there are several treats lined up, and they all looked so tempting I wanted to try one right away haha. There's parking for about 13 cars, so driving there wasn't much of a worry.

Since it's in a tourist area, table turnover is pretty fast, so I liked that I didn't have to worry about finding a seat and could just walk in comfortably.

Signature drink: Dripper Latte (White Almond Mocha)

I had the reworked signature Dripper Latte (White Almond Mocha, ₩6,500), made with white chocolate and almond cream — it wasn't too sweet, the cream amount was just right, and it went down easy. Not something we ordered, but the menu also has a Cone Choco Latte (₩8,000) served in a waffle cone cup, plus drinks like the Dripper Blend (HOT/ICE, ₩7,000/₩8,000) made with their own roasted beans.

And what did we go with?! The signature coffee that's been around for over 10 years. On top there are a few crushed almond bits, which added another layer of nutty flavor to the coffee.

The size was just right — with a cup this size the shot often ends up feeling too strong, but thankfully this wasn't overloaded with caffeine, which I appreciated. As you can see, even with a ton of cream on top, it wasn't too sweet and had a smooth coffee flavor.

Chodang tofu pudding and salted financier

I had the Chodang Tofu Pudding (₩7,000) along with a salted financier. On top of the tofu pudding sits something like raspberry, and it comes with a dairy purée on the side that you're meant to pour all over it.

There were quite a lot of dessert options, but worried they'd be too sweet, I went with the berry and salted financiers.

Not too salty, not too sweet — just the right balance!

Interior and seating

With floor-to-ceiling windows opening the whole outside view and wood-toned tables and chairs, the overall vibe was really comfortable!

There was a good variety of seating, from group tables to seats looking out at the scenery, to outdoor seats right in front of the shop.

We only found this spot later — oops — but outside we saw families sitting with their babies, enjoying the cool sea breeze. Once we spotted the seats, I was honestly a little jealous! If the weather's nice, I'd recommend it to others!

The restrooms are separated for men and women, each a single-occupancy stall, and they were kept clean.

The long coffee bar was tidy, and they sell goods and beans separately too, which definitely gave off that dedicated roastery café feel.

Service and wait

Maybe because there were quite a few staff working, our drinks came out fast.

As you'd expect from a tourist spot, customer turnover was quick, so tables opened up fast and we could enjoy the place without waiting.

Final thoughts

None of the usual chaos you get at tourist café spots, and with the fast turnover we could actually sit back and relax. I loved that the Dripper Latte had a subtle white chocolate aroma that never felt cloying.

The tofu pudding, made with a famous Gangneung ingredient, felt like a whole new dessert experience with that signature-style character to it.

A place that's held its ground for over 10 years and then went and renewed itself — it definitely felt like it had both the vibe and the skill down. If you're looking for a café near Gangmun Beach, give Coffee Dripper a try.
