Jeonju pasta bar on Gaekri-dan-gil with raw-yolk carbonara: Adam
In short
Adam is a small Western-style pasta bar and pub on Gaekri-dan-gil in Jeonju, directly across from Jeonju Pungnam Tourist Hotel. Diners ordered Korean pork belly steak, aglio e olio, tomato pasta and carbonara topped with a raw egg yolk; the aglio e olio was the favorite, while the tomato pasta ran salty for milder palates. Adam opens daily 17:00–23:00 except Tuesdays and suits a quiet date over pasta and a drink.

I wanted to leave an honest review of 'Adam,' a Western-style wine bar located in Gaekri-dan-gil, the hottest neighborhood in Jeonju.

What is the atmosphere like at Adam on Gaekri-dan-gil?
Gaekri-dan-gil is packed with restaurants and bars that are all full of personality. Among them, 'Adam,' true to its name (which means 'small' in Korean), isn't huge in size, but it makes up for it with a cozy, warm atmosphere.

It's such a great spot for setting the mood on a date — the sleek, clean interior really catches your eye.

Once you step inside, it's quiet — the kind of place where you can actually hold a conversation.

It's the perfect space for enjoying beautifully plated food with a drink while sharing small talk and good vibes.
Our group wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered a variety of dishes.

Overall, every dish came out neatly and cleanly plated, so there was a real joy in eating with your eyes first.
Adam's location, opening hours and parking in Jeonju
- Location: across from Jeonju Pungnam Tourist Hotel, 30m from Sambaekjip
- Hours: daily 17:00–23:00 (closed every Tuesday)
- Parking: public paid parking lot right nearby
If you've been to Gaekri-dan-gil before, you'll know parking can be a bit of a hassle since everything is tucked into alleyways. 'Adam' doesn't have its own lot either, which was a bit of a downside.
Fortunately, there's a public paid parking lot close to the restaurant, so if you're driving, you can use that. It's a fairly affordable ₩700 per hour, so it shouldn't be much of a burden — worth keeping in mind before you visit.
What we ordered at Adam
1. Korean pork belly steak
Adam's Korean pork belly steak had an impressively tender bite — not chewy at all.

True to a wine bar's menu, it made a great main dish or side to pair with wine or a highball.

It was cooked cleanly with none of that gamey pork smell, which I really appreciated.
2. Aglio e olio

This was personally my favorite dish of the night!

I eat oil pasta pretty often, and here the garlic fragrance and the richness of the oil soaked right into the noodles instead of just sitting on top — really delicious.

The flavor was clean without being overdone — the kind of pasta you keep reaching for.
3. Tomato pasta
The tomato pasta had a stronger, more intense tomato sauce flavor than I expected. Since I don't usually like salty food and prefer mild flavors, this felt a bit too salty for my taste.

But that's just my personal preference — the friends I went with actually gave it high marks, saying the sauce was rich and delicious.

If you usually like a rich, bold sauce flavor, you'll probably enjoy this one a lot.
4. Carbonara with a raw egg yolk
The carbonara here caught my eye visually before anything else — it came with a raw egg yolk perched right on top of the pasta.
I'd never seen this style of carbonara before, so it was a fun surprise!
Once you pop the yolk and mix it through the noodles, the flavor is rich and savory rather than heavy or greasy, filling your mouth with a mellow, nutty taste.

It was a wonderful dish that let you fully enjoy the soft, classic flavor of carbonara.
5. Tip: free fried squid with Adam's receipt review event
One last tip for anyone planning to visit: the restaurant is currently running a Naver receipt review event.
If you take part, you get a free order of fried squid. I didn't expect much from a free side dish, but it was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside — genuinely delicious.

If you visit, don't forget to join the event and grab that tasty fried squid!
