Yeosu izakaya open till 3am with Korean beef sashimi: Tsukiya

While traveling in Yeosu, I was looking for somewhere for a light evening drink and ended up at Tsukiya, a new izakaya in Hakdong!!

What kind of izakaya is Tsukiya in Hakdong, Yeosu?

Tsukiya is an izakaya near Yeosu City Hall in Hakdong, open every day from 5pm to 3am. A really convenient spot for a drink downtown.

The reason I picked this place is that it's not just a bar with side dishes 🤓

They have rice and noodle dishes like mazesoba or gyudon (beef rice bowl) to actually fill you up, and quite a few side dishes priced from around ₩5,000 to ₩9,000, super reasonable. And open until 3am..?? An izakaya open that late into the night is just great. We were planning to have dinner too, so we started our first round here 🍺

Good atmosphere and good value at Tsukiya

Inside Tsukiya it's a relaxed atmosphere with cool Japanese songs playing, good for a blind date or a date night. A lot of the menu is in the ₩5,000–₩10,000 range.

The menu prices are pretty decent too? A lot of items in the ₩5,000-₩10,000 range haha. Among the bars near Yeosu City Hall, this one's got great value...

The free starter at Tsukiya: fried potatoes

Tsukiya's basic starter is fried potatoes. As soon as we sat down and were deciding on the menu, they brought fried potatoes out first.

Fried potatoes as a free starter, haha, this is good enough to pay for! They came out warm with mayonnaise drizzled on top.

While waiting for the draft beer, I kept picking at them one by one 🍟 They also gave us tomato and long green chili alongside.

Off-menu hanwoo beef sashimi, 17,900 won

Tsukiya's wagyu beef sashimi is ₩17,900 for a small plate, and it's not on the menu — only written on a banner in front of the shop. We had to specifically ask to order it.

This wagyu beef sashimi small plate was only listed on the banner outside, not on the actual menu. We had to specially request it! ₩17,900 for a small plate. Tasted it and wow, it's really tender..!! No gamey smell, clean and chewy with a nutty flavor too.

It's even better dipped in the garlic-gochujang sauce that comes with it and wrapped in seaweed 🤍 Oh, and aged kimchi comes with it too, definitely try that.

Beef tantan nabe hot pot, 24,000 won

Tsukiya's beef tantan nabe (hot pot) is ₩24,000, and the portion is really generous. Packed with mushrooms, meat, and vegetables.

Next up, the beef tantan nabe. Such a generous portion?? The broth is also super tasty, totally the vibe for soju or cheongha.

Packed with mushrooms, meat, and vegetables, and since the two of us also had the beef sashimi, the amount of food was plenty, haha, got really full.

Adding udon noodles to the nabe, 2,000 won

With a hot pot dish like this, udon noodles are a must, right, lol. It's ₩2,000 and they boil it fresh right when you order.

Since it's freshly boiled hot udon, the texture is great. Dipped into the tantan broth, no need to say more, haha. So tasty 🍜 Adding the noodles at the end after eating the nabe left me completely full, hehe.

How much is draft beer at Tsukiya? 1,900 won for 300cc

Tsukiya's draft beer is ₩1,900 for 300cc.

I usually only have about one glass of beer while eating, so this size was just right 🍺 And at ₩1,900, the price is really good too, haha.

The owner was super friendly the whole time we were eating. I asked about a bunch of menu items and they explained everything easily.

Parking next door at Hakdong Seonso Sangga public lot

For Tsukiya, we parked right next to the shop (a 1-minute walk) at the Hakdong Seonso Market public parking lot.

We went on a weeknight, and there was no parking fee at all?? Nice, free and easy parking! We just parked right next to the bar and walked in.

Is Tsukiya worth it for a first stop in downtown Yeosu?

Tsukiya was a great find in Hakdong, Yeosu, for when you're visiting Yeosu and want a light drink downtown while also getting a proper meal 😆 Highly recommend the beef sashimi and the tantan nabe, and be sure to try the mazesoba or gyudon too... :)
