Weekend dinner for two at Yeosu shabu-shabu restaurant Tongkeun Shabu

In short

Tongkeun Shabu is an all-you-can-eat beef shabu-shabu restaurant on Mangma-ro in Hakdong, Yeosu, near the city hall. On a Saturday evening, two adults ordered the weekend all-you-can-eat course at 26,900 won per person and paid 4,000 won more for a half-and-half pot of plain and mala broth, then helped themselves to chicken, dakbal (spicy chicken feet), sushi and rolls from the salad bar. With free private parking behind the building, third-floor Tongkeun Shabu across from Yeocheon Fire Station works equally well for a family dinner or a team night out.

I visited a hotspot near Yeosu's Hakdong city hall where you can enjoy fresh shabu-shabu and a hearty salad bar all in one place! This is Tongkeun Shabu, and it delivers real satisfaction with top-quality beef with zero gamey smell and a huge variety of food 📝

Where is Tongkeun Shabu, and what about parking and hours?

Tongkeun Shabu is on the 3rd floor of a building at 25 Mangma-ro, Yeosu, right across from Yeocheon Fire Station, so it's very easy to find. There's free dedicated parking behind the building too, so you don't have to worry about that!

The interior is really spacious and the tables are set comfortably far apart, so I'd strongly recommend it for family dinners, work get-togethers for Hakdong city hall employees, or group gatherings! Before you go, here's a quick, easy-to-scan summary of the hours and location info.

Inside Tongkeun Shabu on a Saturday evening

We visited as two adults on a Saturday evening, ordering the weekend all-you-can-eat at ₩26,900 per person plus ₩4,000 for a half-and-half basic and mala broth!

How do meat and vegetable refills work at Tongkeun Shabu?

Once you've placed your order at Tongkeun Shabu, they give you a dedicated bowl for meat and another for fresh vegetables. You take your bowls over to the refill corner and freely help yourself to as much beef and vegetables as you like — it's a really convenient system 💡

Especially if you add ₩4,000 for the mala broth, you get special ingredients that are essential to mala tang (spicy numbing broth) like chewy fenshi noodles, wood ear mushrooms, and puju (dried tofu skin)!

What is on the salad bar at Tongkeun Shabu?

Tongkeun Shabu's salad bar has a buffet-style spread of warm chicken, dakbal (spicy braised chicken feet), sushi, rolls, and more, all neatly arranged. While the broth was bubbling away, I went over to the food corner and loaded up my plate with side dishes I wanted to try.

It was so much fun picking out different things! Since these were foods you could just grab and eat right away, they were perfect for snacking while waiting for the shabu-shabu to boil, and the quality was good too, so it worked out great~

When we went, the sushi was so popular the display was empty at times, but the staff kept making more nonstop at the sushi station.

Half plain broth, half mala broth: how did it taste?

As the basic and mala broths came to a rolling boil, we loaded them up with beef pork neck, brisket, and plenty of fresh vegetables to complete the setup 🍲

Dipping the thinly and evenly sliced beef into the broth, it came out incredibly tender and moist with zero gamey smell!

The basic broth had a deep, clean flavor that felt like it hit the spot instantly, making it great for enjoying the fresh vegetables and clean flavor of the meat exactly as intended!

Mala broth with fenshi noodles and puju added

The mala broth, packed with spicy and tingling flavor, was seriously addictive — adding fenshi noodles and puju gave it a depth that rivaled any dedicated mala tang restaurant!

The meat quality was so good that even after refilling several times, I never got tired of it and could enjoy it perfectly right to the very end!

Is Tongkeun Shabu in Yeosu worth it? Final verdict
