Cheongchuni Oranda Dongmun Market Main Branch Tapdong is a traditional snack shop inside Jeju's Dongmun Market selling oranda (crispy rice puff cookies) and gwajul (fried dough snacks). Dongmun Market is basically a must-stop on any Jeju trip, right? And inside it there's a shop selling oranda, which I love, so I stopped by. And its name is~~~~~ "Cheongchuni Oranda" — full points for the name alone, haha.

Oranda and gwajul flavors and prices

At Cheongchuni Oranda, square oranda ran ₩3,500–4,000, yuzu gwajul was ₩5,000 for 5, and donut oranda was ₩3,500 each. There were more varieties than I expected. When you hear 'oranda,' you probably think first of the hard, tooth-sticking old-school cookie, but these days oranda comes in quite a range of flavors and shapes. Cheongchuni Oranda sells not just oranda but gwajul and donut-shaped products too.

The donut oranda looked pretty tempting with its various toppings. It's coated in chocolate, so the sweetness is turned up a notch. Kids would probably love this.

At Cheongchuni Oranda's Dongmun Market branch you can taste samples before buying, so you can try each kind and pick whichever suits your taste — I really loved that.

Dongmun Market in Jeju has so much food and so many souvenirs that it's often hard to decide what to buy. When I travel I tend to buy this and that until my luggage gets heavy, which is stressful, but traditional snacks like oranda and gwajul are a plus because they're relatively easy to pack.

On top of that, being a traditional snack made in Jeju fits well as a travel souvenir. Cheongchuni Oranda has actually been featured before for using Jeju-grown ingredients like yuzu, hallabong (Jeju citrus), and carrots to give its products a distinctly Jeju flavor.

With snacks in hand, off I went for another lap around Dongmun Market~ Cheongchuni Oranda made my mouth very happy along the way.

How did the yuzu oranda and gwajul taste on a hot day?

In the scorching heat, the oranda's syrup had softened a little and the shape lost its crispness — but the flavor didn't lose anything. The yuzu fragrance came through gently and the texture, soft yet crunchy, was the kind of easy, likeable taste anyone could enjoy.

The gwajul's crunch was insane!! So crispy and sweet, I kept reaching for more. There wasn't much to eat around the stay, so oranda took care of my late-night cravings. Such a good choice.
