Jeju tea house near the airport for iced hojicha: Dobana

I was back at my family home and felt like I had been indoors all day, so I looked for a café. I heard there was a large café centered on tea, so I paid it a visit. Since it is near Jeju Airport, it seems like a great place to stop at the beginning or end of a trip!

Dobana hours and parking

Hours are 10:30–21:00, it is open year-round, and last orders are at 20:30.

There is a large parking lot in front of the shop, so it is easy to visit by car without any hassle! Quite a lot of people actually came by car. Driving to enjoy tea... haha.

The shop is also large, so it seems good for groups, while solo visitors like me can comfortably enjoy tea too.

There are high chairs in one corner of the shop, so it seems nice to come with a little one too? Until a few years ago, I used to check things like this whenever I went somewhere with my niece or nephew, but they have all grown up now....

Bakery picks to have with tea

Dobana (도바나), a tea spot and bakery café in Jeju City, sells a wide range of breads too. You can choose salt bread in plenty of variations to suit your taste, including mocha, Udo peanut, almond, pollock roe mayo, green onion cream cheese, and red bean butter.

There were also fruit-topped pastries, chocolate batons, pain suisse that is not in the photos, Oreum mugwort cream cheese for a taste of Jeju, and chili sausage bread!

Is it easy to order if you are new to tea?

As a café that puts tea front and center, it sells an amazing variety of teas. Reading each tea's description was fun too...

You can also browse the many tea varieties on the menu. They sell coffee as well, so if tea is not your thing or you love coffee, coffee is a good choice! If you cannot decide, ordering the tea of the day is another option. I am not very familiar with tea either, so I ordered iced hojicha and the Oreum mugwort cream cheese bread that had caught my eye at the bakery counter earlier.

While waiting for the order, looking around the tea station beside it turns the wait into an enjoyable time. It is set up so nicely inside that it feels like exactly the kind of place parents would really love...

Instructions for drinking the tea are available at the pickup counter, so you can enjoy it easily even if you do not know how!

The tea steeps in the teapot, and you can drink it once the accompanying hourglass runs out.

Once the sand had run out, I strained the tea and poured it into the cup of ice. The teapot is quite hot, so pour carefully!

How the iced hojicha and Oreum mugwort cream cheese tasted

That soft yellow color is so gorgeous.. It was my first time trying hojicha, and it definitely has a different character from green tea! They say green tea is roasted to reduce its astringency, and it certainly had less bitterness, with an appealing nutty aroma. If you are a real tea enthusiast, ordering it hot to enjoy the fragrance even more would be nice!

The Oreum mugwort cream cheese I ordered alongside it also had a gentle mugwort aroma, and the red beans inside were not overly sweet, so it went incredibly well with the tea. I do not usually like very sweet things, but this was the kind of flavor I could finish by myself in no time....

A large café where you can work on a laptop

There is both cold and hot water on one side, so anyone who needs it can help themselves. Also, take note: if you join the review event, you can get a Dobana signature tea bag for free! One reason I came to this popular Jeju café was that I had some work to do on my laptop, so I came while I was at it. The Wi-Fi was great, and several tables had outlets, making it a very good place to work on a laptop.

After finishing my tea, I somehow felt settled in both body and mind... It is a large café near Jeju Airport, so parking is easy, and having tea as its main theme made it feel like a new experience. The overall interior has a vibe younger people would like, but the bread is tasty, and even adults who do not enjoy coffee can enjoy tea, so it felt like a good place to bring your parents too.
