Gangnam restaurant with Yorkshire pudding and truffle fries: Brivit

In short

Brivit Gangnam Station is a European-style restaurant between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. On a late lunch visit, the writer and their partner took a terrace table at Brivit Gangnam Station and ordered four dishes: salmon steak pasta, spicy jambon risotto, truffle fries and Yorkshire pudding. Dipping the Yorkshire pudding into the risotto's cream sauce was the most memorable bite, making Brivit Gangnam Station a date spot worth returning to for both atmosphere and food.

While looking for a pasta spot near Gangnam Station, I went to Brivit Gangnam Station with my partner for a bit of a date. I tried the salmon steak pasta, spicy jambon risotto, truffle fries, and Yorkshire pudding myself.

At first, what caught my eye was the European theme-park-like exterior and the terrace mood, but after eating, the food itself was what stuck with me more. I've been to a few good-looking restaurants in Seoul where the photos were pretty but the taste was just okay, which was a bit disappointing.

But at Brivit Gangnam, based on what I ordered, both the plating and the flavor combinations were satisfying. I think it would also work well for people in Gangnam looking for a date restaurant, a blind date spot, or a place to talk over a meal for a pre-wedding invitation gathering.

Where is Brivit Gangnam Station, and where can you park?

Brivit Gangnam is located between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. The address is 31 Gangnam-daero102-gil, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, about 333m from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6. From Gangnam Station, take exit 11 or 12 and head toward the alley where Gangnam CGV is.

We visited for a late lunch during a Gangnam date. Since there are movie theaters and shopping nearby, it was easy to fit this in as part of a date course rather than just a standalone meal. It connected well with Musinsa, the Apple Store, and the movie theater, and it wasn't hard to reach even when meeting someone from the Sinnonhyeon side. If you're driving, though, I'd recommend checking ahead.

The restaurant doesn't offer its own parking support. If you're driving, you'll need to use nearby public or paid parking lots. Based on what I was told, you can use the public parking near Yeoksam Culture Park or the paid underground lot at Gangnam CGV. Parking fees and availability can change, so it's best to check again on the day of your visit.

Terrace seats and ordering by ringing the bell

The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived at Brivit Gangnam was the exterior. Even though it's right in the middle of Gangnam, the colors and atmosphere felt like stepping into a small European theme park, making me want to take a photo before even eating.

The concept is said to be a small European-style garden in the city, and the interior really was neatly done in wood tones. Green plants were placed throughout too, giving it more of a bright, comfortable feel rather than a cold or overly formal restaurant vibe.

The day I visited, the weather was cool, so we were seated on the terrace. The sunlight came in gently without being too hot, and the temperature was just right — personally, I liked the terrace mood even more than the indoor seating.

There was a small bell on the table. You'd ring it to call the staff, which felt like a small detail but matched the European-style interior nicely and was fun.

While waiting for our order, we looked around the interior, which combined pink and ivory tones with wood accents for an overall clean look. A blind date spot can be hard to talk in if it's too loud, but awkward if it's too quiet.

When I visited, the atmosphere wasn't stressful for conversation over a meal. So beyond Gangnam dates, I think it could also be a candidate for blind dates or for handing out wedding invitations at a pre-wedding gathering.

Brivit Gangnam Station menu and the four dishes ordered

Brivit focuses on European-style dishes centered on pasta, gnocchi, risotto, and steak. Their first location is in Seongsu, and the Gangnam branch I visited is their second. Their signature menu items include green onion cream corn gnocchi, salmon steak pasta, Brivit steak, and spicy eggplant fries.

These were the four dishes we ordered that day.

  • Salmon steak pasta
  • Spicy jambon risotto
  • Truffle fries
  • Yorkshire pudding

That's quite a lot for two people. To be fair, it was a late lunch, so we were both really hungry.

At first I wondered if it just tasted good because we were hungry, but eating through each dish, they all had different flavor directions, so we didn't get tired of it by the end. If you're looking for a pasta restaurant near Gangnam Station, I'd recommend the salmon steak pasta first.

Rather than ordering several cream-based dishes together, pairing a spicy pasta or risotto with a side dish worked better since the flavors didn't overlap. Menu items and prices can change over time, so I'd recommend checking the latest menu before visiting. If you're going with a group for a blind date or pre-wedding gathering, it's also worth looking at the menu ahead and reserving.

How do the salmon steak pasta and spicy jambon risotto taste?

When the food first arrived at the table, the first thing my partner and I said was how great it looked. It felt like even the color combination between the plate and the food had been thought through, so we naturally reached for our phones to take photos first.

But honestly, I was even more satisfied after the photos. I've had experiences before where a restaurant known for its atmosphere had pretty plating but ordinary-tasting food, which was a bit disappointing.

Based on what I ate that day, Brivit Gangnam's flavors didn't fall short of the visuals. Looking back at the photos, I can still recall the taste of each dish, since each one had a distinct character.

Truffle fries

First, the truffle fries made their presence known by scent the moment they hit the table. Dishes with strong truffle aromas can taste great for the first few bites but get heavy after a while — but here, the truffle oil flavor was paired with a touch of sweetness that balanced surprisingly well.

The sweetness wasn't overpowering; it just added a subtle accent among the salty fries. What I liked most, though, was the crispiness.

A lot of fries are only crispy right when they arrive and go soggy after a bit of conversation, but these stayed relatively crispy throughout the meal.

Salmon steak pasta

One of the dishes I liked most that day was the salmon steak pasta. It came with a slightly spicy ragu-style sauce and a large chunk of salmon steak on top, and it looked delicious right away. I also liked that we didn't have to order the pasta and salmon separately — they were combined in one dish.

The salmon steak was tender and savory

The salmon flesh was tender and had that distinct savory, fatty flavor. Paired with the spicy tomato-based sauce, it balanced out the salmon's richness nicely. The noodles were cooked to my liking too — not overcooked, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, so the salmon and noodles worked well together.

Some salmon pastas I've had before used such a heavy cream sauce that I got tired of it after a few bites, but Brivit's salmon steak pasta, with its spicy sauce, stayed relatively clean-tasting to the end. If I come back for pasta near Gangnam Station, I'd order this one again.

Spicy jambon risotto

The dish that surprised me more than expected was the spicy jambon risotto. I actually gasped a little after the first spoonful. The slight spiciness rising through the smooth cream sauce matched surprisingly well.

A cream risotto on its own can get heavy midway through, but the spiciness cut through that, making me keep going for another spoonful. Add the salty flavor of the jambon, and the overall taste wasn't bland at all.

If the salmon steak pasta was spicy and clean, the jambon risotto was softer, nuttier, and spicy in a different way — good to alternate between the two.

The Yorkshire pudding we also ordered was a fun dish. I ordered it out of curiosity, and it was described as a British bread that's crispy outside and chewy inside. At first I wasn't sure how to eat it best, but tearing off a piece and dipping it into the spicy jambon risotto's cream sauce worked really well.

I liked that this way, none of the risotto sauce went to waste. Here's a look at the salmon steak pasta and spicy jambon risotto together.

I wondered if the two of us could really finish four dishes, but since it was a late lunch and we were hungry, and each dish had a different flavor, we ate faster than expected, and eventually the plates were nearly empty. When choosing a restaurant for a Gangnam date, I've often had to pick between atmosphere and taste — a nice-looking place with average food for the price, or good food in a chaotic space. Compared to those experiences, what stuck with me most about Brivit was being able to have both atmosphere and taste at once.

Verdict: is Brivit Gangnam Station good for a date or first meeting?

Brivit Gangnam first caught my eye for its European-style exterior and pretty terrace, but after actually eating there, it was the food that came to mind again afterward. Among what I ate, the salmon steak pasta and spicy jambon risotto stood out most.

The salmon steak pasta had a nice combination of spicy sauce and tender salmon, while the spicy jambon risotto had a good balance between creamy softness and spiciness. The truffle fries and Yorkshire pudding weren't just there to fill out the order — they were fun to enjoy alongside the mains.

As a blind date spot, I thought it worked well — not too casual, but not stiffly formal either. For a group gathering like handing out wedding invitations, it's also a plus that there are plenty of shareable dishes like pasta, risotto, and steak. Personally, I'd recommend the terrace seating if you visit on a nice day.

The time spent leisurely eating with my partner in a seat with gentle sunlight is something I'll remember along with the taste of the food. As I was told, the hours are daily from 11:30am to 9:15pm, with last order at 8:30pm.

Hours can change, so check the latest information before visiting. If you're looking for a date restaurant to continue on after a movie or shopping in Gangnam, a blind date spot near Gangnam Station where you want both atmosphere and taste, or a place for a pre-wedding gathering with people you haven't seen in a while, this is worth considering.

Next time, I'd like to try the green onion cream corn gnocchi and the Brivit steak that I didn't get to this time. If you're looking for a pasta restaurant near Gangnam Station that's satisfying in taste and not just in photos, Brivit Gangnam is a place I'd want to visit again.
