Menu and what the sets include

The set menu at Baekseok Kkogijip comes packed — basic side dishes plus corn cheese, doenjang jjigae, and steamed egg are all included, along with sample yukhoe and a choice of kimchi jjigae or doenjang sulbap. Going with the set really seemed like the better deal!
Side dishes and the yukhoe taster with the marinated pork 2-person set

What I ordered was the marinated pork (yangnyeom handon) 2-person SET. In the 2-person set you can choose between doenjang sulbap and kimchi jjigae, and I went with kimchi jjigae~ The basic side dishes came out generously — scallions, myeong-i namul, radish strips, 3 kinds of sauce, and lettuce wraps, along with doenjang jjigae, steamed egg, and corn cheese.

The set also comes with sample yukhoe! For a 'sample,' the portion was bigger than expected.
The yukhoe had a glossy, fresh sheen to it, and eating the moist beef with the egg yolk popped over it, along with the crunchy pear and radish sprouts, was rich and delicious....❤️

The basic doenjang jjigae included with the meal was also clean and simple in style. With zucchini and tofu in it, it was nice to take a spoonful between bites of meat.
The corn cheese I love ❤️ Look at that cheese stretch. Eating it while it's hot, the cheese pulls in long stretchy strings — savory and sweet, it kept pulling me back for more.

Marinated pork grilled for you, so you can just talk
Finally, the main event — marinated pork (yangnyeom handon) BBQ! This is what I liked best about Baekseok Kkogijip: they grill the meat for you. At a group dinner or gathering, isn't it usually the case that one person ends up grilling the whole time? Here, the meat comes out already grilled, so you can just eat comfortably and chat — a solid pick for a work dinner spot where the conversation doesn't get interrupted.

They bring out the Korean pork along with peppers and onions, all grilled to a nice golden brown — it looked appetizing from the color alone~

For the first bite I tried it plain, without dipping in anything. The marinated pork had the sweet-salty seasoning soaked in well, and the meat itself was moist and tender.

I ate it with scallions, wrapped it in myeong-i namul, and even added some wasabi on top of the corn cheese — trying different combinations. Personally, myeong-i namul was my favorite! Being able to switch it up like this meant I never got tired of the flavor.

For the most classic combo, I wrapped the marinated pork in lettuce with grilled onion, garlic, and ssamjang and took a big bite. The crunchy lettuce with the moist, tender marinated meat, plus the sweetness of the golden-grilled onion, made for a perfect combination. Add the sharp bite of garlic and the ssamjang, and it was the kind of bite you want to fill your mouth with.

The set's choice dish: kimchi jjigae with sari noodles
For the set choice between kimchi jjigae and doenjang sulbap, I went with kimchi jjigae. Adding the sari noodles made it completely filling.

Packed with enoki mushrooms, kimchi, and pork, this was totally my kind of dish. The spicy kimchi jjigae paired well after eating the marinated pork, and with the chewy noodles it felt like a proper full meal. I couldn't help but order an extra bowl of rice...haha

My honest verdict on Baekseok Kkogijip

What I liked most about Baekseok Kkogijip was that since they grill the meat for you, I could eat comfortably the whole time without worrying about the grill. The marinated pork came out moist and well-grilled, and the set — from the sample yukhoe to the corn cheese to the kimchi jjigae — was generous.
It's also easy to get to, just a short walk from Baekseok Station, and with seating ranging from 4-person tables to group tables, it seemed like a good option for a Baekseok work dinner or group gathering.
