While on a Seongsu date with a friend and looking for somewhere to have dinner, I visited Seongsu Darak (성수다락).

I'd been curious about it because I'd heard it was also known as a great Seongsu brunch spot, and perhaps because it was a weekday evening, we were able to walk straight in without waiting. The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed meal and conversation with a friend, so I thought it would also make a nice Seongsu gathering spot.
A Seongsu brunch restaurant with a distinctive attic concept
Seongsu Darak is on the second floor at 20 Ttukseom-ro 9-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea. True to its name, the second-floor space has the feel of an attic, which made even getting there feel a little special. There is no separate parking area, so keep that in mind if you plan to drive.
A bright, cozy Seongsu Darak interior with floor-to-ceiling windows
Once we went up to the second floor, the atmosphere was brighter and cozier than I expected. There were many kinds of seating, from couples' tables to group tables, so it was arranged to suit different occasions. It was comfortable for chatting over a meal with a friend, and I could see why Seongsu brunch restaurant Seongsu Darak has remained so popular.
What we ordered
- Darak Omelet Rice — ₩17,000
- Spicy Crab Risotto — ₩19,000
- Darak Ade (Pineapple) — ₩6,900
Darak Omelet Rice with a satisfying split-open performance

The first dish to arrive was the Darak Omelet Rice. It features European-style fried rice topped with a soft Japanese-style omelet, finished with Darak's own house-made omelet rice sauce.

They cut open the omelet right in front of us and let it spread out with a flourish, so it was fun to watch. It was a style that was trendy for a while, but it was fun to see again after so long, haha.

It was wonderfully tender too, so it was a dish that satisfied both visually and flavor-wise.
Spicy Crab Risotto with a great balance of heat and crab
Next was the Spicy Crab Risotto. The risotto is flavored with vegetables stir-fried in chili oil and fresh crab meat, and the balance between the spicy flavor and the crab was lovely. It was not overly rich, and the spice meant I could enjoy it without getting tired of it until the end.
The adorable pineapple Darak Ade
Lastly, we also ordered a Darak Ade.

The pineapple ade comes in a pineapple-shaped glass, and it was so cute. It felt a little like we'd come to SpongeBob's place, which also made it great for photos.

How the meal felt overall
Having the omelet rice and risotto together made for a nice combination, and it was fun to take photos too. The atmosphere was great for a comfortable meal while talking with a friend, so I think it would suit a Seongsu brunch gathering as well.
