Aged sashimi bar near Jeonpo Station, Busan with friends: Rigo Susan
In short
Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch is an aged raw fish sashimi bar on Jeonpo-daero 216beon-gil in Busanjin, Busan. Meeting a friend in Jeonpo, the thick-cut aged sashimi paired perfectly with drinks, and the side dishes of fried food and soup kept things interesting between bites. The atmosphere was so comfortable that a second round didn't even cross our minds, and it's a spot worth revisiting for winter's giant yellowtail.

Rigo Susan

So many people these days are looking for a nice place to drink around Jeonpo, haha. I met up with a friend in Jeonpo after a while and while looking for somewhere to go, I ended up at Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch!

If you love sashimi, it's hard to just walk past a place like this... 👀 I was especially curious since they source live fish directly and age it themselves, and it turned out to be more comfortable and the food more polished than I expected.
A location close to Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station
Close to Jeonpo Station, so accessibility is great! The location itself was a plus. It's located on the 1st floor at 13 Jeonpo-daero 216beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, and it's easy to find from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station, which makes it a convenient meeting spot.
Jeonpo has so many cafés and good restaurants that it's easy to find a second-round spot after a meal, but this place felt perfect from the start for drinking and eating together. Good for going with a friend, and also nice for a casual date with a partner.
A place to enjoy fresh live fish, aged 🐟
Rigo Susan's biggest feature is definitely the aged raw fish sashimi!

They said they prepare fresh live fish daily and serve it after an aging process, and it really did feel different from just eating regular sashimi. Going through aging seems to make the texture softer and bring out more umami, so I think anyone who loves sashimi would enjoy it.

The sashimi had a good amount of thickness, so the more you chewed, the more savory flavor came through, and it went so well as a drinking snack.

Best of all, you're not just eating sashimi the whole time — with the side dishes that come along, the drinks just kept flowing, haha.

In winter, the giant yellowtail is also recommended!
If you visit in winter, the giant yellowtail is worth keeping an eye on too. They said they serve it aged at over 8kg, so if you love giant yellowtail, this should be worth looking forward to.
What's charming about giant yellowtail is that the taste and texture differ slightly by cut — the belly is savory while the back is clean-tasting yet chewy, so it was fun comparing different parts. It's a fish with a rich, oily taste that's delicious on its own, but eating it with the prepared sauces and sides gave it a different feel too!
A bite of sashimi, a sip of drink, and side dishes in between — that's a proper drinking session, haha.
Sashimi and drink pairings that go really well together 🍶
This place has a variety of drinks prepared besides the sashimi, so it was good to choose according to your taste. There are clean highballs and easy-drinking options like soju, and having them alongside sashimi seemed to bring out the flavors of the food even more.
Clean drinks especially pair well with fresh sashimi, and sipping slowly one glass at a time, time flew by. Chatting with a friend over this kind of food, we didn't even think about a second round, haha.
A solid lineup of side dishes too

It's not just the sashimi that's delicious — the accompanying dishes were satisfying too. From dishes with fresh vegetables and seafood to crispy fried items and warm soup dishes, there was a good variety prepared, so even someone who doesn't eat much sashimi could come along without much burden.
Personally, at a drinking table I think it's good to have a variety of dishes to eat in between, not just the main menu. Eating just one dish over and over gets tiring fast, but here you could switch between different things and enjoy it all the way through.
A comfortable atmosphere at this Jeonpo bar
Overall, the atmosphere was comfortable and warm rather than noisy or overwhelming, which I liked. The staff were friendly and gave detailed guidance on the menu and how to enjoy the sashimi best, so even first-time visitors could enjoy it easily.

The bathroom was really nice too, haha. Such attention to detail!
It felt like I discovered a great place to go when you want delicious sashimi and a drink in Jeonpo! If you're looking for a bar in Jeonpo and want both atmosphere and food, give Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch a try :) Next time I want to go back for the giant yellowtail in winter 🐟❤️
