Sokcho egg tart bakery, reservation vs walk-in line: Doris Patisserie
In short
Doris Patisserie is an egg tart bakery right beside Sokcho Tourist & Fisheries Market (Sokcho Central Market) in Gangwon. Reservations open at 6:00 AM the day before pickup, and the shopfront is split into two lines — reservation pickup on the left, walk-in purchase on the right — so anyone with a reservation walks straight in on the left. A Naver or Google review event added 2 free tarts to the 12 ordered, and at Doris Patisserie the original was soft and custardy while the walnut tasted richer and nuttier.

No Sokcho trip is complete without a food tour through Sokcho Central Market!! This time I reserved and picked up egg tarts at Doris Patisserie, just next to the market. I went all in with 6 original and 6 walnut — 12 total lol.

Doris Patisserie is in a great spot to stop by while browsing Sokcho Central Market!! I stopped by loaded down with bags as my last stop haha.

Reservation pickup line on the left, walk-in line on the right
The line in front of Doris Patisserie is split into two. The left is the reservation pickup entrance, the right is the walk-in purchase line.
Being such a famous Sokcho dessert spot, there were people lined up in front of the store to buy egg tarts??
Here's the really important warning!! I had already made a pickup reservation, but seeing the long line, I mindlessly joined the walk-in queue lol ugh. If you've reserved, don't stand at the back of the long line — go straight to the left pickup entrance.

Don't wait around like I did only to go "oh wait, this isn't the right line?"..! Having a reservation doesn't necessarily mean zero waiting, but it's still way faster and easier than walk-in purchase for grabbing food at Sokcho Central Market.

Baked treats beyond egg tarts at Doris Patisserie
Doris Patisserie is famous for egg tarts, but they also sell baked goods like financiers and madeleines!!

Everything looked so good I almost wavered, but my only mission that day was egg tarts, so I only picked up original and walnut lol.

2 free egg tarts from the Naver and Google review event
They're also running a review event — leave a Naver visitor review or a Google photo review and you get 2 egg tarts free!! I got mine too lol. Such a steal,,,,haha.

They even have instructions on the best way to eat them, and both Kakao Pay and Zero Pay are accepted, so it's clearly a store that's friendly to mobile payment lol.

What the original egg tart tastes like
First up, the original egg tart! Cut in half, it was packed full of yellow custard with no gaps. The filling wasn't dry at all — super soft, nutty, and mildly sweet, an easy flavor anyone would enjoy!!

The outside had visible layers that shattered crisply, while the inside was moist and soft — the texture combo was honestly insane..♡ If you're hunting for food at Sokcho Central Market, original is a must-buy basic!!

What the walnut egg tart tastes like
The walnut egg tart was a bit richer and nuttier than the original!! My aunt, who traveled with me, said walnut was the best one haha. On top of the soft filling, the walnuts add a nutty aroma that builds with every chew, and it pairs so well with the crisp tart layers!! ★★★★★

If you like a classic egg tart, go original; if you love the nutty richness and chew of nuts, go walnut lol. Since it's hard to pick just one, buying half-and-half like I did is the right answer lol.

Is Doris Patisserie worth it as a family trip dessert?
If you use the reservation pickup well, you can easily grab these before or after browsing the market, and they're perfect as a gift or a snack at your lodging!! If you're deciding on a Sokcho dessert, Doris Patisserie's egg tarts are an excellent choice for a family trip..♥♥♥
I thought the original egg tart was tastier, but my mom and aunt said the walnut egg tart was better!!
Recommending this as a Sokcho Central Market food you'll find yourself craving whenever you think of Sokcho :)
